Windows Vista SP1 Release Candidate Publicly Available

A day after it released Windows XP SP3 RC1 to the public, Microsoft has done the same with the release candidate of Vista's first service pack. You can now download the standalone package from here, or alternatively you can download an applet which allows you to install the service pack via Windows Update from this site. As with XP SP3, this is not a final version, so it is recommended that you do not install this on your primary operating system.

Its not that bad... It speeds up file transfer speeds. I went from 30-40MB/s to 45-55MB/s copy speeds... Other than that, I haven't noticed major improvements as vista worked perfectly fine for me perviously.

i aint installed it yet. i wanna coz i have problems with windows update at the moment, but ill wait till the full release... & as for the WEI my ram use to score 5.4 & then i did some overclocking (not the ram, but the cpu) & it kicked my score up a little & then when i decided to stop OC'ing & put the speeds back to stock then refreshed my score, suddenly my ram scored 5.9! & now scores that! weird... burnt it in maybe... i dunno! lol

Thats only because it's not the final version, unless it's an OR (official release) it wont show.

vista service pack 1

i must say i downloaded it yesterday and it took me about 2 hours before i could install it on my machine

1) i installed the script
2) update
3) installed a importand update called (KB939165: Update voor Windows Vista voor x64-systems)
4) update again
5) installed another importand update called (Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB935509) - v1.008 Install this update to enable future updates to install more efficiently on Windows Vista. This update is required before Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) can be installed. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.)

and so on and on after 1 hour and 30 minutes i could finaly update the sp1
and since i have installed it my machine runs better and faster and now screwups in ie.

hey yeh i dowloaded it earlier, ditch it, in the news post theres a stand alone version, get that one, its easier to understand, the winzip thing threw me off, and it doesnt do anything, it has three files an .xps , .doc, and a windows command script which all together is 330kb,

Darn! Theres a stand alone version? Oh well. I downloaded it literally ah hour after it was released. Ahhh well! The update process wasn't too bad. Between the reboots I toyed with my OC.

What I find funny though, is the SP1 RC1 release is the same exact thing as the original SP1 Beta "hack" with the registry edits!
