ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 Launch On January 23rd, Costs US$449

According to TG Daily, AMD will be releasing its dual-processor R680 graphics card one week early. The NDA on all the technical specs was due to lift on January 28th, but apparantly ATI/AMD have decided to step on the pedal and deliver the card on January 23rd. The upcoming R680 contains two graphics processors on a single board and will eventually allow four processor CrossFire mode on select motherboards. Pictures of the card as well as some early benchmarks can be found on our front page. Also note that the story is yet to be confirmed from anyone at AMD/ATI.

Yes it is, but I don't expect that to be the street price when launched next week;)

True... using the Newegg Algorithm the price will jump $5 every time a unit is purchased until it hits $600 or so :D

btarunr^Any game. The PLX lane-arbiter creates hardware abstraction. The OS sees the two-GPU card as one single card.
This just got me thinking....

Does this mean the card will scale like a crossfire solution without needing the driver profiles, or are we still gonna be waiting for Profile updates and dealing with limitations that crossfire currently has?

Like I said... "I would gladly pay your tax rates if it meant I didn't have to be scared all the time of having to go to an emergency room..."
Why not just buy medical insurance then you won't end up being shafted by the government to pay for treatment for smokers and other people who are a burden on the NHS? Oh, over 1million people in the UK have NO access to the dental service that they pay for, you still feel like paying taxes for healthcare? :wtf:

Oh yeah, bring on that card...as long as it fits in the Lanbox lite

I would rather not pay any taxes. I don't need sevices from the government, other than national defense. I would rather buy two 3870x2's with my tax money.;)

Hi does enyone know for certain that the 3870 x2 will run on a LGA775 Motherboard (AB9 PRO P965 chipset) with only one 16*pci-e, not set for crossfire, I have already contacted ABIT but no luck yet.

still haven't seen an official price posted anywhere - but if $499 is it, I'm glad to see ATI keeping to their word about no longer MSRPing over $500.

and a week early? They must be certain to have the majority of the initial bugs out, and are sure they're releasing a solid product.

Damn, if it wasn't for the fact I want to upgrade my CPU - I know what I'd spend some of my tax returns on :D

Because buying the medical insurance turns out to be more expensive than paying your taxes. So yes, bring on the tax funded healthcare, thank you very much.

On topic: I wonder if you can run 2 of these in xfire on an X38 mobo?

Sure, im running the same board as you. Im sure the card is crossfire, however its not a hardware crossfire with the bridge connector, its going to be integrated into the card and be software (Driver) driven. So, im sure we are good.
