ATI can have the cake and eat it too

Over at HEXUS.net, ATI has provided them with a tool that ups ATI card performances when playing Open GL games such as Doom 3. With AA enabled, improvements of up to 35% can be attained. It should be implemented in Catalyst 5.11. HEXUS has some numbers for us but more is to come. Check it out.

I got an X850XT. I hope it helps. Gotta wait till November to find out unless someone else tests the driver on an older version ATI.

Would we nice if it were for all ATI cards! ;) Although mine can barely run Doom3 without AA so the 35% performance increase with AA isn't gonna matter much... :D

Does anyone know if FEAR is OpenGL? It is optimized for NVidia. If this new driver gives older cards the near the same performance increase it would be extremely helpful in this game.

It might, but even if it did I doubt it would be 35%, similar to what zAAm said.
sean478i think it's direct 3d?
I would think so since it's made by Sierra, and HL2 was Direct 3D.

FEAR is definitely Direct 3D. ;) Had to hack at my d3d files to get it to work... Hehe
