Foxconn Turns on the Heat with X58 Blood Rage

Foxconn has definitely taken serious steps to claim its place in the race for market supremacy with premium motherboards these days. Their high-end motherboard range is diversified into the Digital Life series for the premium all-rounder motherboards, and Quantum-Force for enthusiast and gamer-grade boards. Foxconn's addition to the Quantum-Force series based on the new Nehalem-supportive X58 chipset, is the Blood Rage.

To quickly run you through the features, it is an enthusiast board for overclockers and gamers alike. It only features three DDR3 DIMM slots, while featuring four PCI-Express x16 slots, supporting both ATI CrossfireX and NVIDIA SLI. It supports DDR3 1800 memory (OC), and a 14 phase hybrid CPU power circuit featuring DirectFET MOSFET technology. The board features a 4-in-1 chipset cooler technology, which can serve purposes of a air-cooling (DIY), water-cooling, and cavity for liquid-nitrogen cooling, much like the Black Ops motherboard. Sound is modularised, with a bundled Foxconn SONAR X-Fi sound card. The board supports SAS storage. What a drool!

Only 3 RAM slots? Seems like a missed opportunity for a "Quantum Force" board...

3 slots is plenty enough. Running 4 GB gives alot of headroom, consider then running 6 GB (3x2),

O my god that is a sexy looking board. Pure red and black color scheme is awesome. With this and the Renaissance, looks like they finally hired a board designer with a sense of style

For a "top of the line" board I'd expect 6 slots, considering that's what the other manufacturers seem to be doing.

An overclocker isn't going to need >6 GB at the outset...when you do need >6 GB, you're well past 2009.

Yes, but the point is why put down that much money on a board when the other manufacturers do something better? (ie more RAM slots)

...which to you as an OC'er won't benefit. The target users of this board won't find utility with 6 DIMMs, instead with better cooling, OC features, etc. We can't take calls on it till we get to know how reasonable (read: expensive) this board is.

This is true, but going on what I know now, I would rather have the Asus X58 board. I love my MARs, but if I'm going to splash out that much money (I would presume it is at least as expensive as the Blackops atm - £250) I would want everything, including 6 RAM slots.

I think i just came in my pants....

Im a sucker for a black & red colour scheme. but if its even close the the price of the Asus X58 Rampage (ROG??) then in this case id say it looks sexy but its not practical.....

Let the benchmarks speak for itself. ether way you look at it im not paying £150 for looks.

That PCI slot should be placed right at the bottom for sound card addons, the 1x PCI-E slot in between the 1st and 2nd 16x PCI-E slots to allow room for a dual slot cooler on the main GFX card...

Interesting to see, but after my past experiences with Foxconn mobos, I wont be going back anytime soon. I'm just really hoping MF's find a way of having an independant memory voltage controller, and or memory MF's get some high clock, low voltage IC's out.

Some people want it all, like me ;)

Here's hoping for 4GB DDR3 by the time this board hits (or my eyes are on the P6T6 WS Revolution).

Well I think its as ugly as sin but looks don’t really account for much IMO it’s the performance that’s the issue.
