Whats the best card under 110 bucks

This is my situation, I bought a new asus board for crossfire on my HD3850's from fry's and the board ended up being damaged and I didn't know, fry's packed it up as new, so I went to hook up everything and as soon as I turn on everything with the 2 cards in it, I get no video, so I switched my old board back in and both cards were dead so I put my 6800GT in to check to make sure it works in my old board and it works but soon as I put it in the new board, bam its dead too, I take the board back to fry's and tell them what happened and they give me a full refund because the board was actually returned but they put it back on the shelf, so I have about 110 dollars now but 3 broken cards, . . . thanks alot frys, god damn you :mad:

soooo now I need to know what card I can get for about 100 bucks US

Nice find zithe. Another looker is the 9600GSO/8800GS, a G80 8800GTS or HD3870, if you can find it that low (possibly secondhand).

do it drivers from nv are soooo much better i just did the swap from 3 3850s to a single 8800GTS 512.

also try RMA'ing your 3850s

I've had them too long to rma them and I don't have their stock heatsinks anymore

Its odd that a motherboard would kill a graphics card like that. Id understand if it was the PSU...but the motherboard :\

Anywho I agree with the 8800GT, if you sell the dead 3850s/6800 you may be able to re-coup some of the costs.

That 8800 GT Zithe found is the best imo too. Barring that deal, the one that is dependably under 110 bucks without rebates and what not is the 9600 GT. But yeah, grab that PNY!

I was able to get 2 XFX 8800GS XXX's for 100 bucks from a friend of mine :roll:

the best thing is that they are new because he works at a store and got em for me cheap

i gave him the HD3850's though he said he thinks he can fix em but more than likely he can't . . . .

some of the pins were burned

but it feels soooooooo good to be back on the green side, I hated the red sides drivers sooooo much

I got the 8800GS's in the mail yesterday but im still waiting for the mobo come, I have them at 740/1025/1825@63C, I wonder how much more I can push out of it.

The stock cooler sounds like a leaf blower though, took it off after first boot lol

Its a good bit faster than my old HD3850@868/1045 when overclocked

im using vf900's but as far as IQ goes, the HD3850's were a little better, its very noticeable in oblivion with no AA

but not in 3d the IQ is the same

The real reason I bought the 8800GS is because a friend of mine has the Galaxy 9600GSO with 8 chips and he was able to unlock it to an 8800GT that he got in china, now he showed me something very interesting, The Galaxy 9600GSO with 8 chips has the same G92-150-A2 core as the rest of the other 8800GS's and 99600GSO's but it somehow unlocks to an 8800GT/GTS(G92-270-A2) with those 2 extra chips, now that should mean that the G92-150-A2 is nothing but a lower binned version of those chips and not disabled by fuses but have different memory configs making them (32x6)192bit instead of (32x8)256bit

I think this is why there are no 512mb or 1GB 8800GS's or 9600GSO's with ddr3

so im gonna just play around with them for now

but I would've bought them anyway

Tons of articles on softmodding the Galaxy, and it's SPECIFICALLY a Galaxy 9600GSO thing. That's happened before on cards, the Sapphire x800 I believe it was, softmodding to a GTO2.

Right now, I'd have to say hands down it's the HIS HD 4670 IceQ3 Turbo for $79.99 ($99.99 - $20 MIR good till Oct 31) and the 768mb on 196bit 9600GSO for $79.99.

The GSO does offer slightly better performance, and probably even more-so with the memory bump AND the bigger memory bus, but the HD4670 for power and size ties it and it also doesn't need external power like the GSO.

EDIT: WOW! For $122, if you have a Crossfire board, you can have twin 3850s! Or still just one for $61!
