Best Bang for Buck - Gigabyte 2xWindforce 7950 Crossfired (Tests on 1080 and 1440)

3 cards scale fine, I think? PCIe bandwidth is why the upgrade imho, for three cards(x16/x16/x8 on X79 vs x8/x4/x4 on Z77), and it's a worthy one, to me.

He has an X58 board R3E which is 16/8/8 for what he is running. All I meant with scaling is it does not scale as well as adding a second card, but on that note looks really freaking nice from the pictures and screen shots.

The X58/X79 have issues with Crossfire eyefinity users... if you have a single screen you won't face it... go eyefinity and it becomes crash galore.

Bought an X79 3930k and just before installing it (Had crashs with X58 and said what the hell lets go X79) I found a mega thread in RoG forums stating that all 7000 series users got issues and most of the users there complained and switched to nvidia due to that compatibility issue.

Good thing I didn't install the hardware or I would have been utterly and uncondionatly pissed.

Returned the 3930k and that mighty fine Rampage Formula and bought a Gigabyte Sniper 3 with a 3770k.

Hell I saved $250 and I got an urge to make they system... Quadfire LOL!

Ive noticed over the Years Asus Has had the most teething issues with a slew of Video cards

it's a general issue with all X58/X79 chipsets.

It is NOT one I encountered on X79, at least, not with 2x 7950, or 3x 6950. Probably has something to do with PCIe 3.0 on those cards.

X58 I never tried.

Got eyefinity?

Got eyefinity?

i did a lil research and it seems to pertain to the Asus Motherboards. and If its such an issue Report it to the motherboard maker and the Card maker and GPU maker

Tried getting all cards back to stock won't stay stable. Tried different 7970 bios nothing worked. It won't just OC at all with the other three.

Then went screw it and started trying other manufacturers Bios... got rock solid with the Vapor-X bios... 1250mhz OC with 1.25v is no laughing matter!
