Wanna Try Out New TechPowerUp Design?

I know not every user and staff member uses English as their first language or even second, but i noticed some of the grammar is different. Some of the headers have for example "Of" some have "of. The useage of capital letters is what im discussing. I can forgive incorrect usage of commas ect if the text is legible and understandable. I know press releases are statements from companies and not the poster.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalization#Titles

is that what you mean?

Yes, if you could darken the side borders Wiz it would be grateful. I wear irlen lenses and i also find it too much.

more opinions on the brightness of the side areas (with the small tiles) please.

Darker, Lighter, Fine as is ?

suddenly font became pixelized. i can swear it was smooth few mins ago. could it be that fix for scroll bar for npu news to be the reason. opera
under ie 10 everything looks fine
thx for fix btw.
all border lines (news articles, review section, comments under news) are now well visible in both browsers.
as for the coloring of the links its up to you to decide. for me it was lazy way to track what i have checked but if it doesnt fit color schemes we can live w/o it.

the sony post is the last item in the list, you can adjust the width of your browser window to check if that makes any difference, but i doubt it.

those font issues are on opera?

On Windows 8 - 64 bit & Opera 12.15 final, with or without hardware acceleration.
Looks fine on mine.

On the main site I'm liking the font size and smoothness. Really easy reading in FF20 on 1440p.

Thought I'd see how it looked having the FPS count chasing the end of the bar. Looks a little disjointed when you have a small bar and a long card name, but it looks that way on the old graph too.

I also tried "tpu" red since I'm terrible at picking good shades of green.

Edit*
If you reserve mention of vram amount save for the case of non-standard amounts and or switch the listing from "M" to "GB" (going by Newegg all 7000 and 600 series cards have at least 1GB of vram) you could prevent the FPS count from running off the end of the bars. Most of the time at least.

I will have to take a look when I get home with my chinapad and its retina display. Should be a little different than the standard apple users :p

I actually can't get to the site on my laptop. Just redirects to the standard TPU. Running Firefox 20 on Ubuntu.

Desktop works fine (Chrome and Windows 8).

It's too bright for my tastes. I prefer the current dull colours. Much easier on the eyes.

Just a shade darker. It would be much easier on the eyes.

Like i was saying the left hand side looks like a big wall of text, the older blue/purple wall of text was easier to read.

Yes, for example "Samsung Unifies Fastest Growing PC Line under Newly Expanded ATIV Brand". It just looks like there is a lack of uniformity, even between the same news poster.

This looks off. FF20

The new design looks more compact and i'm 50/50 on this one.
But the News title shade of blue is a bit too bright. Make it a darker shade or use black ?

Other than that s'alright

Using FF 20.0.1 on both Win7 and XP.

Maybe the today's reviews from other sites could be collapsed somehow with a few icons for the different hardware. That way it would take up less space. Maybe you could also use the favicon from the different sites instead of their names which takes up a lot of space and is really not essential information. For those that want it all maybe there could be an expand/collapse all feature as well.

When there is a story with a "Read full story" link, maybe it would be neat to just let it expand on the front page instead of opening the thread with comments and so on.

When you zoom out past 100% magnification in Chrome the side bar with login goes blank.

Win7 - Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m

it's a feature for small browser width. there is a button to toggle it

I like this idea.

i would suggest some ^TOP^ anchors @ Day headlines, if u press "load more..."
and as Frederik said , HW related icons would be nice

i don't want to "hide" today's reviews. many visitors (probably not the hardcore people) come to tpu to find new reviews, several thousand use that feature each day

My Chrome just drops the sidebar items to the bottom of the front page when i go to 90% zoom. Also some of the text gets silly.

fixed

made some changes to the today's reviews listing

After trying out the new look for a bit, I prefer the new colour scheme, among other things.

It's brighter and clearer than the old cream look. I still don't get why you don't want to use the full width of a hi res screen, though?

Will you be changing the TPU logo at all? I think it could perhaps look a bit more modern.

looking at those graphs, which are looking great btw! i would right align all FPS, so that they was seperate from the coloured box, and in line with the ''higher is better'' column

That's less work for your eyes vertically and there would be some synergy with having it under the "higher is better" column, but more work horizontally when you have to dash over and see which card you're looking at. That also might require slightly wider graphs (or shorter bars). Not sure if they're the width they are for mobile browsing or what.

This kind of aesthetic meets functionality work is annoying. So much to consider, so many perspectives to weigh.

Looks fine on mine.

mine is win7. i just have noticed that this problem is present on all pages (more or less depending on font they use), so i guess this is something at my side.
HA didnt changed anything.

yes opera 12.15 but see above

TechPowerUp will soon get a new wardrobe, and we're doing trials. The new user interface modernizes design, improves functionality, and makes the site safe for high-resolution displays such as today's Apple's Retina iPad and MacBooks, and future Ultra HD ones.

We're opening our new design for testing by our forum members. It's still a little rough around the edges. Please report any errors you may encounter. Also use this thread for constructive feedback. We're all eyes to any ideas you may have.
