2560 x 1080 Ultra Wide displayed by a stunning (well I think so) LG 29UC97C IPS Curved Screen monitor attached through HDMI to a Sapphire 4gb R9 290X Vapor-X @ 1120mhz.

1920x1080 60hz has always been just fine for me. Especially when you can sit at a comfortable 59fps. Upgraded last November from a GTX 650ti 2G, honestly that card pulled its own weight for what it was.

But this 970 G1 gaming has been a great card, no coil whine at all, a great overclocker, like most maxwell chips are.... only downside was I bought before the so called "3.5G memory scandal" in the end I wish they would have advertised as a 3.5G card so I could have chosen a 980 and gotten the "full" amount I thought i was getting.

That aside, that VRAM issue hasn't been affecting me at least noticeably, however GTA V gets up there with the VRAM usage, usually sitting around 3G - 3.4G Vram usage. I would be interested to see how the VRAM usage differs on a GTX 980 compared to a 970.

I have two monitors, but only have both in use when I am using multiple programs and need to organize things better. I seem to notice an odd stutter while gaming with an 2nd idle monitor. This new monitor I just got though has a much better color than my other one, and it has a back light.

Will probably upgrade the video card/monitor in 2ish years and pass this 970 down the chain to my 8350 rig.

Still sitting on Samsung 22" @1050:banghead::wtf:
Can't wait to lug this 50lb monster to front room to try out the Vizio 65"4K :toast:
Looked great on the 55"Vizio 1080P@75Hz[5870] with a tight pixel and it's hellava lot tighter on the 4K :rockout:
With the upgrade of the F@H :lovetpu: 7950 card it should be Sweet

1080p 144Hz BenQ monitor with a 970. Refresh rate over pixels.

Though sometimes i use dsr .

2560 x 1080 Ultra Wide for me too (using a LG 34UM57-P) refreshes@75Hz for movies and browsing the web connected thru DP to a EVGA GTX 970 FTW.

1980 x 1080 ASUS VG248@120Hz for gaming connected thru DVI to the same gfx card. For some reason if I set the refresh rate to 144Hz and try to stream movies through Amazon Prime Videos it doesn't play nice and would cause static on the screen and lock up the monitors which causes the system to hang. Does anyone know why this would happen?

Res: 1920 x 1200

well, stats and poll shows that most people love HD AKA 1080 res, despite the recommendations always given on Video Cards, new builds and upgrades that most people recommend GTX 980 and 1440 res, so I wish more people could get into the post and tell us about the current res and why, because is always good to see that 1080 res is not something that is getting on the past, the contrary as a personal opinion the 1080res is here for a long time, still could be for smooth and decent gaming experience!

I play on a 1080p 120 Hz iiyama monitor, with a 780 Ti overclocked to 1100-1200 MHz. Best resolution for high fps I think, as higher resolutions are too demanding for max quality.

Now, I'd probably buy a 1440p IPS 144Hz monitor if I needed one, but I got my monitor 3 years ago and its still nice.

I am using an old Philips Brilliance 220CW 1680x1050 CCFL 22 inch Monitor like my signature. said. Reading this thread makes me . Why? This is monitor I can currently use in my situation now without have to spend the non existent green bank. I got one dirt in inside the monitor I can't clean not sure if it is a dead pixel. The graphic card I use is don't laugh integrated HD graphics.

A good graphic card and monitor is far in future.

Thanks Peche, it is just a matter time I guess.

I am frankly quite satisfied at this 1680x1050 resolution maybe it is because I have not try better things.

I would be looking forward to a 4K tv as monitor. As for graphic card currently would love an R9 390.

4K would be a very huge jump in screen real estate for me makes for a very enjoyable use to do things. I would like a Tv compared to a monitor instead because of the size, I don't want to use Windows scaling to be able to see at such a high resolution. A 40 inch 4K would be nice to have a 1:1 display without having to squint my eyes. A 32 inch would be good too but 40 feels right. It would feel as immersive as multi monitor without the bezels. Just imagining.

every day I notice that I'm from a far far far distant world…. I don’t like the big ass screens and television screen for gaming, I prefer a little screen no more than 24"

about 4K, well is a complicated res for my point of view, pretty expensive if you try to get a smooth experience, that’s why I do love 1080 res, because with a humble video card such as GTX 660ti for example [getting something from some years ago even …] you can achieve excellent frame rate, excellent experience and also you can add a second card or something like GTX 770 / 970 for a better experience without expending that much in your video card… that’s simple,

also I would like to upgrade to Nvidia surround setup, 3x1080 monitors someday ! to see how it could be on some games!

Regards,

Same as specs, an old D-SUB 17' 1440x900 HP LCD (with speakers!), plus a vertical yellow line showing near the right edge, that sometimes turn blue, violet, and some other times white. Right now it's not in sight.

I don't want to change it so I don't need a faster and bigger card.

Regards,

I just find huge high resolution screen nice for productivity work as I used to use the dreaded 1366x766 laptop resolution. It is like looking though a mail slot for that. I would take any higher resolution than that anyday! 1080p is the gold standard for many things, I also think it is an excellent resolution. I was rather impressed 1080p during the days 720p was the more affordable option. Gosh those days driving 1080p needs serious hardware.

I had game on 13 inch screen a long time. Small screen are great if the colour and the screen is of good quality. I never took panel quality seriously until I use a laptop. I would always go for monitor with good colour gamut and nice black level followed by resolution at last. I do love small screen in way for the amount to space they occupy.

3x1080p monitors? That would work great for those racing games!

Glorious 1080p PVA action here. And it's pretty damn amazing let me tell you. I play games, often at late hours with dim lights on, and I couldn't have picked a better panel than I have today.

Eizo FG2421. 120hz / 240hz strobed backlight, 5000:1 static contrast and 8bit+FRC. <3 <3 <3

3 in eyefinity at 1680x1050. One day I will both to upgrade to 4k. Using a pair of 7950's to push them and the monitors are some matte business class HP's.

1920x1200 desktop while gaming 3200x1800.

Few of my opinions:
1. 40" 4K is about the same ppi as 27" 1440p, a little bit too small for me. You'll need to be sit very close to enjoy it but counterintuitively you have big ass screen. IMHO 43" (100ppi) would be better if you want 1:1.
2. At 200% image scaling it's enjoyable but also very sharp looking. You'll need to zoom out if you want space back, but the point is you have choice for it (big UI + big content by default, but with zoom out it'll be big UI + small content).
3. Forget Radeon if you want 4K TV. Radeon even Fury has only HDMI 1.4 which is only capable for 4K@30Hz. DP to HDMI 2.0 adapter is still a month away at the earliest (and if they don't lie). Wait if you want.

The mighty have fallen. This seems as fitting a place as any to report this:

"Chernobyl" (my old gaming rig with a GTX 980 for 1080p) has been stripped of her GPU to help pay for my fathers medical bills. My big screen 1080p LED monitor also got sold.

I'm now rocking a 720p "Mintek" LCD monitor with a totally energy efficient (or something, help me find some silver lining) Intel integrated HD 530.

I rechristen thee rig "Wynochee," (named after the Wynochee Hydroelectrical plant where my family and I used to go and camp by).

Oh well, it's not like I have time to play games as of late anyhow...

720p is at least playable on this thing, and not as bad as I remember.

because the experiences on other resolutions sometimes we think that lower res sucks ... but not ...
