Advertising Gbps on Video Cards

Anyone else have an issue with this product? I'm not picking on just Asus as I own many of their fine products and they are certainly not the first company to use deceptive marketing but this clearly aimed at consumers thinking they are purchasing a 9GB (not gigabit) video card.

Well in their defense, there are GTX1060s with slower memory...so they need to market that it is the faster memory model.

Your link is to a review of this graphics card, not the Asus product page. The box in the picture clearly shows "9Gbps GDDR5" which is correct, so what do you have an issue with?

Review and packaging clearly State cards memory Capacity at 6 GB GDDR5 and its Rated Performance Speed at 9gbps
some one needs to attend Remedial Reading Classes
and or learn to understand the art of posting with out putting proverbial foot in mouth

Well I can say that I have a slew of $150,000+ a year salary R&D guys and gals who screw this type of stuff up on the regular, but if they follow the process by using the IT techs then no issues.

It clearly says 6GB. Though I kinda agree they should bloody use GHz for the memory clocks. That's like measuring car speed using knots... It defines a correct speed, sure, but it's idiotic.

The Titan X pascal, Titan Xp and 1080ti share GP102, the 1080FE, 1080, 1070 and even some 1060's all share GP104. Don't know why YouTube you were watching, but might want to fact check some more.

ISP's have Actually been false advertising for years with actual deceptive tactics (until recent years they have stopped)

then there a small disclaimer somewhere stating Mb/s is in Megabits, not bytes, but they should never use the MB representation in the 1st place, & instead use the 100Mb/s one.
one could only guess what asus intended with that labeling, but in theyre defense they Did label it properly. (technically)

Obviously you should like video cards have done for years. It's clearly a tactic for the average consumer to look at the title and then look at the other 1060 6GB cards and say hey 9 is larger then 6 so it must be faster!

It is faster than the other 6GB cards. That is the whole point...

This card is a slightly faster version of the original - faster memory - so you have a problem with Asus accurately specifying this difference on the box, is that right?

That is the proper way to advertise for that card. The 3GB ram version is different architecturally and the regular 6GB version has the slower ram. If you don't know what 6GB 9Gbs Edition means, well tough luck. GB and Gbs are not the same.

It's just an issue if you can't make out the difference between GB and Gbps - I don't think Asus is remotely in business or need to deceive anyone. It's still a premium brand.

I look at it as the updated card/new revision/whatever. It has faster RAM, that's all I know.
