Well folks after years, I mean when was the first release of Fire Fox? I am done.
I am going to switch over to microsoft edge. so much faster WOW what a real change.
Can't believe I was going so slow for no reason.
Well that is it Mozilla Fire Fox good bye and fare well we had a LONG run together but you are as I am Old ,Slow and need to retire.
Hello fast, new web browser Microsoft Edge! Welcome to your new home hope you enjoy it here I think you will. LOL.

Chrome edge and chrome have been worse for me. Cpu temps in w530 (i7 4c8t) skyrocket to 90+c when watching yt.. on Firefox it's 65-75c

Well I'm not sure that's a Internet issue.
Not using anything chrome.

You are, Edge is Chromium based thesw days.
Well it's not chrome. or it would say it.
It is in fact microsoft edge Not google chrome.

My default brower at home is Brave built on chromium too but more on privacy than Chrome and properly Edge.

At work I still use Firefox can't get rid of it for some reason but there I also have IE, Edge, Chrome and so on to test various things.

I do not know but FF has been really slow and hard to work with the last few years.
This is my first time with another web browser and I am really like this one wow I never knew!

i use between opera and chrome portable, somehow opera runs pretty good especially on low spec pc/laptop
i dunno firefox is getting lose their grip

I use Yandex Browser for most part as I have a lot of stuff connected to my yandex account. But I tried using Opera and while I liked it (cause half of Yandex code is Opera), the side bar alone pissed me off when I disabled it and something new will enable it, that I just got rid of it.

I got rid of Firefox cause of....certain viewpoints
I used PaleMoon for a bit and while its great, it was slow for me.
I trust Microsoft as much as I trust a 'Lady of the Night' with my wallet.

Brave has the same... They don't say chrome in the branding but it's still chrome

How about a safe step-back.
Firefox 56 64bit

The selection of web browser and version, this is a serious choice.
You may win back functionality worth having at browsing and avoid latest added functionality this helping any one else than you.

I am using mostly Opera in past few years tho' I also keep Chrome on my RIG....Opera improved a lot and I don't have nothing bad to say about this browser......

Out of interest... What are you doing with your browser and how is it slow for you? I've been using firefox since forever and never had a problem with it, but my mundane usage might be why

In case you missed the news, the new Microsoft Edge is now based off Google's Chromium browser, just with different features.

If you are new to Edge, of course it's gonna start off fast but as your profile builds database, history, cache, extensions & other stuff, your Edge will also start to slow down like your previous Firefox & that's also prolly why your Firefox is slow. In case it isn't obvious for you, make sure to keep your browsers up to date, disable or uninstall unused extensions, clear your browser cache & use a public recursive DNS resolver such as Google Public DNS, Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1, OpenDNS or Quad9, etc.

I use Basilisk & Firefox Nightly & my experience isn't that bad. Additionally, I also use Brave, SR Iron & CCleaner Browser for chromium-based browsers.

I wonder if it's bad extensions, malware, broken Windows installation, or PEBKAC because I've been using Firefox since Netscape Navigator, when was it, 1995?, then Mozilla Suite and never had any serious issues with it. I'm now writing this message from Mozilla Firefox 81.0 and it's blazingly fast, I cannot complain.

I'm not sure why you had an urge to share this valuable decision with everyone else here.

Just use a backport of some type, like Pale Moon. Using old versions is a sure way to get security loopholes that are unpatched.

It's just Chrome skinned. When you use both side by side, it's crazy how little effort Microsoft even put in to make Edge different. 90% of the stuff is exactly the same. They really just did a quick lazy skin over Chrome.

I don't know if this is a good way to test our browsers, but I have all 3, Firefox, Chrome and Edge. Edge and Chrome on Speedtest.net was about the same, Firefox was just bit slower on the download scale.

It is not Chrome but it is Chromium based, as reported by Microsoft here. That does not make it bad. I also switched to Edge (from Pale Moon) and for the most part, have been very happy with it. If you like add-ons, then that's one of the nice things about the new Edge, it supports most Chrome add-ons.

I do wish Microsoft picked a different name for it though. The first Edge that came out with W10 was a disaster. For one, it clearly was not finished - obviously shoved out the door by MS execs before it was ready just so it could be included in W10. Another big blunder by the execs and marketing weenies at MS.

I think it should have a different name because this new Edge is 99.9% different from the old Edge. The only thing (that .1%) that is the same is they are both browsers. Beyond that, they are nothing alike. But it seems MS likes to cause confusion by having different programs use the same or similar names. Like Windows Defender, the antispyware for W7 and Windows Defender, the antimalware for W10. Or Outlook, Outlook Express, and Outlook.com.

I personally think MS was being smart here, not lazy. They received years of criticism for IE. The first Edge was a fiasco. Why risk 3 strikes to re-invent the wheel when they knew the MS bashers would automatically hate it? MS didn't just take Chromium and make yet another Chromium based browser out it. MS swallowed their pride, admitted defeat and actually partnered with Google on this. I think that was smart. And good for us. A win-win.

The only thing I don't really like now is the "search on this page" (Ctrl-F or F3) feature. There currently is no way to tell it to search for whole words only. :( For example, if I wanted to search for IE on this page, it is going to find it 15 times, instead of the three I'm really looking for.

I'm sure there was a test conducted somewhere that determined the difference was minimal, but I always feel like Chromium Edge uses less RAM and is more stable than Chrome. Subjectively. I just use Edge to sync history and bookmarks between devices.

I have a chat about you with the moderation team, may be its hard for you to get it that permanent contribution of criticism at my posts this is your own bad habit.
Now one is entitled to criticize other members suggestions which them they offered in good will and in this case as tested by me in person.
You have earned a place at my ignore list.
Consider this message as my last.

Are you for real?

I am full of complains about the latest versions.
I do not accept my web passwords to be stored at Firefox servers.
I do not accept Firefox team to be the Gods and decide of which Add-on it will be terminated.

Old Firefox team was begging about individuals to engage and Help Firefox project so this to be able to offer more Add-On to FF Users.
Suddenly they changed their mind and the old (ADD-On) developers they now seemed as parasites and their traces ( work ) it should be terminated.
I will do anything it takes so me to maintain my sanity and also my web browsing experience this to be according my own best interest.

I have wrote several messages to Firefox team regarding complains and suggestions.
They proved to be deaf and blind at accepting the voice of the people.

Rather off-topic & unwarranted considering that it isn't really a criticism of your post. And others are allowed to criticize other's suggestions regardless of goodwill if said suggestion is a poor suggestion. What R-T-B said is legit telling to not use an outdated, buggy browser with possibly several security holes.

That is your choice & you don't have to. You could either store it locally in the browser or use a password manager... Or just don't store your password.

They are the creators of Firefox so they are allowed to be gods in the direction of their browser.

And by Add-ons, you mean WebExtensions? They had to deprecate older extensions as it was incompatible with WebExtensions & that was made so WebExtensions can be ported easily to other browser that are also using WebExtensions.

I am pretty sure your complains & suggestions was unreasonable like your post, which is why it was ignored.
Also don't expect an organization to cater to every single demand levied at them.

That depends... How long has each browser been running? What extensions are installed & running? What website are you opening? Is the website more optimized for one browser over the other? What about the browser layout engine? the JavaScript engine? Have the config been optimized? ETC...
There are more on my previous post.

Give me proofs other than your tongue.

Or I am the proof by working with FF ESR for XP for a decade and with the Firefox 56 64bit since this May.
