Ah ok, then it’s still quite good in stability but I am a bit surprised you can’t run a few benches at 4.9 + because mine I could even if it was only for short runs.

No, I tried everything, with the strap, raising the max voltages, with one memory stick, I don't know what else I could try..

I have two of them, my personal favorite X79 mobo. Both have 1680 V2's in them.

It could be a bit “tired” from use and gotten finicky on high mhz/voltage…or…it just is a finicky chip or something in your setup is acting up when you are pushing cpu that far.

I haven't had a single issue with either PC running 1680 v2's and Sabertooth X79's. If I had I would have mentioned it long ago.

'Tho I never owned 1680 V2 I am pretty sure it will work totally fine also my current Xeon 2697 V2 (12c/24t) working perfectly fine and before this CPU I was rocking I7 3820 and Xeon 2650 V2(8c/16t) on this same Asus Sabertooth mobo and never have any issues.....
P.S. Win11 working flawlessly(just need TPM-Fix)

Running my two @4.7GHz never presented any issues even while transcoding video. When I got my first 1680 V2 I swapped it with the 4960X that was in the rig without changing anything (and years later still haven't made any changes). I never post anything here I don't have personal hands-on experience with.

Unlike many others unfortunately. I also know that there are people that use telekinesis to move objects that are 20m away, but I don't know them personally, where exactly they live, and I also haven't succeeded in doing so myself.

Does anyone have a LGA 2011 socket R pin diagram by any chance? I'm trying to check if the pins are the culprit for one of the RAM channels not working on my G1.Assassin 2, and I can't find anything useful in web search. Just a bunch of outdated links. Isolating the RAM channel pins from the rest would make it much easier.

Seems I've fixed the RAM channel problem, not sure how though... And I've also managed to get overclock to work! :clap:

At least the most important aspects of it anyway. Will test it thoroughly, and share the results.

With that kind of heatsink, you cool the CPU, VRMs and everything else around the socket all at once. You have to run a higher fan profile but it works.

Got a 50mm fan on hand. It just sits there on the edge of the "bench table", pointed at the VRM "heatsink. Cooled down that hottie by a significant amount.

Update on what I did yesterday. I'll post photos of my BIOS setup later, so you can see how limited it is. RN I'm doing benchmarks on my Z87, and then on a X79.

Anyway, I've settled for now with a 4.5GHz, 1.4V. 2400MHz 1.65V XMP profile on a 32GB (4x8GB) with shitty timings. I don't know shit about memory OC, but I might try to get it done properly, if I find some decent guide or something. Seems stable with all except P95 26.6 (the only one I use on older CPUs), but it might be too harsh on the VRMs. We'll see with the games anyway. That 1.4V isn't a fixed number, more like a maximum (remember, limited OC options in BIOS). Because when running CB for example, various monitoring apps report between 2.70-3.5V. Really I'll just try to measure it with my multimeter at the closest capacitor legs. Just to be sure, so I can get it higher without worries. 4.6 isn't stable, even if I set 4.5V. It won't boot with straps at all, even if I dial down everything, so that's out of the game.

Well lovely.... looks like intel slipped a microcode update out for v3 xeons... my 2699 can no longer do all core turbo with modified bios. My vms start way too slow at 2.3ghz.
Guess I have to give up on x99 as a server platform and just get a 1680v3 and have another gaming box. Too bad the rx570 in it is horribly slow. Oh well... some day.

insert the microcode into the bios and you'll get your all core turbo back, having the mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll override it from windows side is what breaks bios side tweaks. (or delete the dll)
