Atomic Heart is an exciting new first-person shooter universe with a great backstory. In our performance review, we're taking a closer look at image quality, differences between the graphical setting presets, VRAM usage, and performance on a selection of modern graphics cards.

OST is freaking great people, grab it :D

Shouldn't switching to DX12 API suppose to remove the need for driver level optimization?

I've been having a lot of fun with it but holy smokes the voice acting is absolutely atrocious. Every time the main character opens his yap I can feel my blood pressure rise.

RTX 4070 Ti with 12 GB VRAM has more FPS than the RX 7900 XTX with 24 GB VRAM?

I'm wondering when will the popular argument that "it has more VRAM so it's better" finally die?

That should only applied to mGPU? Which no one cares about, even though games still stutter without it. Heck it even mentons stuttering in the very article here, because of the game engine of unreal engine 4 & the way shaders loading works & not drivers.

Lack of RTX support for one of the RTX reveal titles in 2018 is not just odd, it's REALLY REALLY alarming.

Is there any statement from Mundfish about this? Jensen promised that RTX would "just work".

Uhhhh.....no? Where on earth did you hear that?

DX12 removes a lot of the API overhead compared to 11, it never claimed to remove the need for optimization.

A self optimizing API would have been earth shattering.

I think what he meant is that DX12 gives devs more possibilities for low-level optimization, making driver optimization unnecessary... Not that the API will automatically program the game and adapt to the hardware without human interference. :p

at 4k Atomic (max settings) my merc 7900xtx is 90avg outdoors and 150/200fps indoors, games pretty smooth minus some hitches due to unreal engine. graphics give wolfenstein 2 vibes, robots remind me of alien isolation’s robots which were ruthless

What timing lol

AMD pushed out a driver today that now officially supports this game.

If your sample source is 1 game that isn't going to change anything.

And the fact that the 3080 10GB is running into issues in some current games seems a more valid example.

Plus the fact it's an Nvidia title

Someone should update the thread with the performance difference seen with the new driver, that'd be a good addendum to TPU's game performance review

I've been enjoying the game, I have been getting far higher FPS with pretty much the same settings @ 1440p on the RX6800XT. Usually sit about about 100 +

Who are you arguing with? The VRAM requirements for this game are low so nobody is making that claim:

but...but....but...but...but the 24 GB of VRAM make it future proof! FUTURE PROOF!

anyone notice the Intel Arc A770 giving the RTX 2080ti a run for its money?

That's relieving. I thought for a moment that 24 GB VRAM is no advantage at all in gaming. Turns out it's all the fault of these stupid Atomic Heart devs who dared to optimize VRAM usage in their game.

So you need at least a 500 euros graphics card to reach barely 60fps on FHD in 2023. Well, good times...
Hilarious, and in the same time its really really sad. Its no wonder why we need 4090 to play AAA games in 60fps, looking at this level of "optimization". Every single game that comes out is at least 5y in beta state.

Really odd numbers here. My 6900xt gets 130+ fps at 1440p 240hz. Just in generel really odd AMD numbers on TPU compared to the rest of benchmarkers

You're right, time to raise prices again!

Nice review, the game does look really good despite RT making it a non issue but you also actually mentioned the NPC low quality etc, so I think I'll wait it out a bit, read a few more reviews first , see what people think of the game as a whole.
@W1zzard Did you complete the campaign?, and did you think it worth the effort and money?.
