GIGABYTE to Apologize to ASUSTeK

For those of you that want more of the GIGABYTE vs ASUS EPU saga, today I'm happy to inform you that after ASUS threatened to sue, it's time for GIGABYTE to issue a public apology and say I'm sorry. According to a report by DigiTimes, GIGABYTE agreed to publicize an official apology in local Taiwanese newspapers on June 1st. Although GIGABYTE continues to claim that their DES technology is superior to ASUSTeK's EPU, GIGABYTE's chairman will appologize for using a misleading picture of blown capacitors claimed to be used on many ASUS motherboards. In exchange ASUS has agreed to drop all proceedings related to the issue. Now after everyone is happy, where are our brand new Intel P45 motherboards?

This kinda stuff happens back and forth constantly, don't think either company is poor because of all this non-sense. If anything it increased "both" their sales because of all the media.

both have crap BIOS's that relabel everything to make it all confusing just go for MSI they are making a huge comeback K9A2 plat,CF-F and on the intel side the P7SLI are great mobos!

Booo Gigabyte. Couldn't stick to their guns and have a good ol' western style shootout. If you're gonna start a fight, at least have some semblance of honor and stick it out to the end. As for ASUS, their counter-claim was a load of marketing BS, not to mention trying to sue without disproving anything. If Gigabyte had stuck to it, I'd have some respect for them. Instead, I fail to see how either company is worth a dime to me.

The whole thing is a joke anyway. Asus wouldn't really want a court case out of this because i doubt their products could really cut a good 90+% power. I think both sides realized it was mutually beneficial to just let it go.

Well i just did a quick check and they claim 96% power efficiency. Only way i could see them getting anywhere close to that is if they were using room temperature superconductors. Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on Asus and they make great motherboards. I'm using one right now in fact. Its just theres certain limitations which makes me doubt those high efficiency numbers.

Im sure there was a more tactful way Gigabyte could have done it. But Asus did what they had to really, how else do you stop another company slating your products quickly.

No its true those types of numbers will probably never be seen in normal practice, but they can probably proove it in the "ideal situtation" which they would advertise numbers as tested...

Like I said in the other thread its like K&N not giving you 25+ hp gain.... Ohh it will in the "ideal" situation.

Asus could reach that 96% efficiency rate if they preset the variables. Ofcourse this efficiency rate would never occur in the privacy of our own homes but under the Asus simulated condition if it was to occur for even a minute, it happened!

I agree that both companies dropped the matter because it benifits them more to do so otherwise the party in the right would have continued to persue a lawsuit.

Gigabyte messed up. Im sure this wont occur again.
