so what current card would you guys compare the 4850 to based on these initial test results? 3870x2 is probably too high, but I'm not sure.

When is the 4870 X2 coming out, because I just RMAed my card and they are out of stock of it so they are giving me a full refund! When is it coming out?? I want to know if I should wait on the 4870 X2 or get a 3870 X2 now..

GTX280 Crysis 1920x1200 4xAA VeryHigh = 17.20fps
HD4850 CF Crysis 1920x1200 4xAA Very High = 22.96fps

I'm an impatient person, but when I have to wait for something I have to wait for something. So I'll rephrase my sentence that would have been to... "I'm really looking to building a new Nehalem based set up with a single 4850 (as these will be cheaper when I come to build my rig) with the prospect of having a dual card set up or more later down the line. I don't see the point in Crossfire or SLi as of yet. It may be a different story with Nehalem/Bloomfield though.

I freakin' love these little tasters. I wonder what a 280SLi set up would get (in Crysis) at the same settings. Reckon it'd double?

Hmm, I am reading that GDDR5 is not DDR but QDR (Quad Data Rate....or something like that). Anyone heard of that?

Some are saying the 4870 reports 900 using GPU-Z. Not sure what to make of that though. We need confirmation that GDDR5 is QDR and not DDR though.

Yeah, which means if the 4870's mem is at 900MHz its effectively running at 3.6GHz :wtf:
