Despite having a rough year with lay-offs, AMD can end 2011 on a high, as brand survey group Trust Across America that lists out America's top-10 most trustworthy companies, deemed AMD as the fifth most trustworthy American company. The list included just two other tech companies, semiconductor major Texas Instruments at number 9, and printing and digital imaging company Lexmark at number 10.

Trust Across America evaluated its top-10 candidates on five factors it calls "FACTS"; that's acronym for Financial stability and strength, Accounting conservativeness, Corporate integrity, Transparency, and Sustainability. It's quite surprising that other, more financially stable tech companies such as Microsoft and Intel didn't make it to this list.

The top-10 list follows.

1) Smithfield Foods (SFD), a global food company
2) Xcel Energy (XEL), a regional supplier of electric power and natural gas
3) Nike, Inc. (NKE), a global marketer of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment
4) Dole Food Company (DOLE), the world's largest producer of high quality fruits and vegetables
5) Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a semiconductor design innovator
6) Allergan (AGN), a global technology-driven multi-specialty healthcare company
7) Temple-Inland (TIN), a low-cost corrugated packaging and building products company
8) Herman Miller (MLHR), a designer and manufacturer of furniture
9) Texas Instruments (TXN), a developer of analog, digital signal processing, and semiconductor technologies
10) Lexmark International (LXK), a provider of printing and imaging products and software solutions

Most "Trustworthy" is relative, it just means that some companies are worst than others.
It doesn't mean they are any good.

]

I think its more about their integrity and ethics as corporate citizens, rather than their financial success.

Intel have had several anti-trust lawsuits filed against them, so have microsoft, Apple etc

Actually AMD had one too when they colluded with Nvidia a few years back but Intel and Microsoft have had dozens. lol

That's normal for almost every company in fact most tell you it will take up to a month after recieving. At least they haven't lost your RMA like OCZ and Zotac did for me.

Oh I get it now, so this is actually a list of the "Least-Untrustworthy" companies

Win?

wait, where is apple?

Filing another lawsuit against another company that made a good product if I had to wager a guess.

1) Smithfield Foods (SFD), a global food company

WTF? I live in Smithfield Virginia, the home of Smithfield foods. If they knew what I know, they would not trust that company for shit. Enviromental issues with thier plants, they are continually shutting down plants, thier management in the plants is corrupt, and the list goes on.

I had to call my parents about this one. Mom retired as head payrole clerk for Smithfield Packing, and Dad worked for Gwaltney Meat packing (owned by Smithfield Foods) until he was laid off. Thier response was "They dang sure didn't ask the employees those questions".

They're only seen as "trustworthy" because they're the underdog. They aren't actually any more trustworthy than any other company.

If your responding to my post, Smithfood Foods, IIRC, is the world's largest pork company. I know they are atleast in the top three.

Actually, Smithfield Foods is primarily America based. From what I could find in a quick search, they have 40 processing plants in 11 different states, but they also have plants in other countries aswell.

The ones that didn't read bulldozer ads or reviews.

Yup instead the stuck to HD7xxx and APU's. Weird how one product makes or breaks a company.
