Only thing holding me back from buying a 5770 is that they will drop to $100'ish within a few months.

IF NVIDIA GETS OFF THEIR LAZY HORSE!

This like many others will push down the GTX 298 price. It should also make the other 5 series cards not that hard to find. It is nice though.

What is looks is that it will make the Cypress cards even harder to fine. :shadedshu
AMD don't have enough chips to make single GPU cards, now the 5970 uses 2 chips. :respect:

Well maybe it's the opposite and they are working out the 40nm yield difficulties. God, I hope so...

My supplier said his supplier sold some for 1000

So if nvidia sold a card for 1200USD that had 2x the performance as 5970, would also be worth it? Video cards should not cost this must now nice most games are bogged down to console specs, MW2 runs 20-480 fps on this one, my point is given

If nVidia can do it why cannot ATI.. I say good on them get as money as they can while they can.
40nm issue's cannot be helping though. About time we see a ATI at those prices and not just nVidia's all the time.

Oh w.o.w.

I'm glad I didn't hurry and buy a 5870!

Though it'd be probably months before I get one, prolly since it's over $600 in the US it'd be close to €600 in the EU.
I'll be getting one but not at that price.
Nothing wrong with having a 5870 ;)
2 5870 in CFX still wins hands down, and more so overclocked.

and about 200.00 more aswell. The best deal out after the drivers are fixed is two 5770's in crossfire or a single 5850.

Well, if you are all into Perfomrance/Dollar, the 4890 is your friend :p
Prices are difference in this side of the world you know, we get 5870s some $40 cheaper than the egg over here.
While the price tag 5970 is still crazy.

No I don't believe you are right. A 5770 overclocked is very similar to a 4890 at stock speed but has DX 11 performance and that with crappy drivers.

It is not like the 4890 with voltage control is a poor overclocker either.
The only down side to it is higher power consumption and no DX11.

Edit: Actually the 5770 performs closer to the 4870 right now with its crappy drivers.
But the 4870s tends to clock like shit.

If someone has one in stock on Friday for MSRP ($599) I will buy one. Without a doubt. Then no more video cards for a while. I will need you.. TPU community to keep me in check. This moderator needs moderation, if you will.

If you have a 4890 it's not at all a good idea to buy a 5770 but if your buying a new card the 5770 is a better buy. Also so we are clear all a 4890 is is a better overclocking 4870.

I have to get something done by December 1st. Dirt 2 comes out. I have an affection for dirt racing and a feeble lust for DirectX 11.

I will take that into consideration. Hmm. I could go for the 5870 (hopefully I can get one in stock) and get a c3 stepping 965 and new RAM! I haven't done anything with my computer for a while, ugh....
