wow....lol i don't see how everyone can complain about the price...like at all. This will or should perform better than 2 HD 5850's in xfire yet 2 HD 5850's, if in stock, cost more. I think its priced perfectly.

for the fastest gpu on the planet and it's 24 hours old..the price is fair.

there are cards out there that are 1/3 of this price but at 1/5th of the power.

price
WILL go down eventualy but if you want the best of the best when its brand new, you have to pay to play.

I would reccomend anyone not to buy this if they game less than 1920x1080 @ 26" a 5870 is perfect for that.

how many people bought a ps3 for $600 .. you guys should know the drill by now.

Regarding some of the other posts I can say the temptation to keep upgrading is finally curbed, after paying full price for an 8800 ultra...

Then a 280, then 280 sli, then 5870.

I got crysis for the first time yesterday, the 5870 plays it fine at 1920 x 1080, after all the bad stuff I've heard about crysis I'd wager this card is good for a while.

Hoping if dx 11 progresses quickly a 2nd will do fine in a year or so.

Just a head's up - newegg is now listing the ETA for stock on the Sapphire 5970s on 11-23-09. Good probability they'll have some stock from other manufacturer's on that date as well.

Looks like they're also limiting all 5970 models to 1 per customer.

I know what I'll be doing first thing Mon. morning (hopefully) :toast:

i'm not here to bash and sry if its sorta ot its just that wizzard is like the only reviewer to test 03 05 06 all the time and he seemed to have np.
i got two on launch from the egg the "pretty giga one and a diamond one.in both single and cfx
i keep getting crashes(vista 64) in benchmarks like if the even if it gets pass the loading screen it dont take long to "grey out" and freeze.i thought ok reinstall os then i'll be good to go...not so same crap
i have a giga 1200watt psu that runs 3 275 and 3 4890 np even with the cards and cpu on dice.i also swapped out for3 more gigs of ram. i need help big time why wont my benches run? it was like 1300 hard earned dollars i spent i have not even tried any games yet i figured why bother? if it cant even run 3d 03 like wth?
i'm running out of xannax over this

I doubt the issue is the cards, unless you feel that they may be defective. 3dMark03 is old as dirt, I don't know why anyone would want to run it anyways.

Is Direct X updated? What drivers are you using? Are you getting an OpenAL error in 06?

i thuoght only the "hemlock" betas would work for this card is there another?
no openAL errors either
the last ati cards i used were the 4980 and were very decent drivers wise.
