IMO, ECS' video cards are not like there motherboards. I mean, the motherboards are good overclockers for the price, but too many people having too many issues with them.

But, the video cards are not like the motherboards at all. I would say they are about graded spot on with Asus & Gigabyte when it comes to video cards.

LOL, I have no clue what that means..:) (I have a simple mind)

I have been using ECS mobos for quite a few years and they are good for what they are, inexpensive mobos. I have havent had one die yet (out of about 30) they are no DFI LPs but they serve their purpose.

As to their cards I have a pair of the 8800GT Passives and not only do they run fine but they run in the mid 40C range. I am thinking of picking up a pair of the ECS 9600GTs with the smaller passive coolers just for fun.

There are so many 9600gt around the same price after MIR. Even that palit one with the display port.

Definitely, but I don't really like dealing with MIRs. This one is MIR free.

I'd rather deal with the MIR and get the Palit and EVGA ones. Just my .02.

this may just be me but doesn't reference design means the cards are basically all the same when they use the same reference design thus ECS=Asus=palit=god knows what else...now i know some don't use the reference design but when they do its kinda all the same bloody thing

they can still be lower binned chips and/or have lower end memory

well ECS doesnt make there own cards anyway, found this out with a bios dump of an ECS 8600GT, it was an eVga bios, and the componets matched the eVga8600GT. IT seems that EVGA makes ECS cards.

Its more likely that EVGA and ECS has a common OEM manufacture.

Actually, I thought the whole thing about Palit was that they didn't use the reference designs.

That and the frog.

It was exactly what you said from the above, just worded a little differently. Again, that's all they are is inexpensive motherboards, but don't expect them to be like an Abit or Asus.

ECS is just as good as XFX, EVGA etc, they just take the stock stuff from nvidia and put a fancy sticker on it.

Yup, exactly my point. I will say it again, their "video card division" is nothing like their motherboards.
