Why would any normal person want to connect 6 monitors? Why not spend that money making a beef up 1000 core 5000 series card with 2 gb of ram. Ati is screwing this up big time I think. What do you think?

I would rather buy 1 badass monitor for the cost of 6 22'' screens.

I agree with you 100%/

but

Maybe two of those Alien triple screen monitors would be nice lol

actually 3x1 eyefinity is pretty badass with proper monitors 3x2 however is retarded

ive seen a few ppl make super tiny bezel mods for it as well

While Eyefinity technology may not be useful to you, it does wonders for other people. Do I know what I'm talking about? Nope. Do I stand by my statement? Yes.

:D

well again it all depends ive had the chance to use a 3x1 setup and enjoyed it but looking at 3x2 and larger is just :banghead:

I didn't realize that two monitors were beneficial until I had to use them at work :o

Wonder who is the target group for 6 monitors? My only guess is video editing/mastering professionals, maybe?

if i had the space id love the 6 monitors but for gaming its useless altho with maya zbrush mudbox and photoshop i can literally devote entire screens to each which is nice but this is an eyefinity thread and 3x1 = king its playable most games run at high settings and overall its enjoyable 3x2 the bezels in the center fuck everything up

yes its dumb, 6 screens or play on my 52" lcd tv in my bed room hmmm i think the tv :D

i woulnt like having the out side of the screens cutting off the picture i and starting on the next screen

well in the \__/ configuration games like dirt2 are a blast same with some shooters i dont care about bezels at that point it fills my vision but 3x2 dosent compare to 1 large screen but again 3x1 is the sweet spot

I think 6-screen eyefinity is not all its cracked up to be, mainly because you wind up with 2" worth of plastic bezel where your crosshair should be and its all just too distracting. But triple screen set up is where eyefinity really shines because its significantly cheaper to do, and much more usable. You wind up with a full screen in the center, and 2 wing monitors giving you that real wide viewing angle. Perfect for racing, MMO, and FPS gaming..and all you need is a standard 5 series, 5770 or above, and a couple of 22" LCDs which you can find for $120-$150.

But I would still prefer a single 30" lcd myself, but I cant argue against triple screen eyefinity, it just works well.

Now that I think about it more, flight sims could do well with this. The bezels of the monitors would be like pillars/supports separating the windows in a plane.

as ive said ive tried 3x1 with dirt2 granted the monitors were various types and i only got about 35mins of play time in  but it was awesome i completely 100% enjoyed that brief run to the point if i HAD the cash id grab 3 new monitors of the same brand for it but im broke so its a pipe dream. regardless 3x1 works and its pretty that simple 3x2 or larger like that xplane vid are just extreme and if its just gonna make 1 large panel id rather just have a large single screen. but 3x1 lets u have wing monitors im sure as eyefinity grows we might see racing games where the left screen is the window in your car and u can see the other drivers on your left and the right does the same with the interior etc but for now its still just a gimmick but one id greatly enjoy

no , it's entirely not dumb.

a)curved monitors for periph
b)higher vertical res than possible without. what's the most you guys have, 1200? what about 1920 vertical? what about 3000 vertical pixels? there are people that definitely make use of that much screen working, let alone playing. you are not going to find an HDTV with 3000+ vertical pixels
c)tvs will only get so big. you say eyefinity is stupid but what about 6x 52" 1080p HDTVs in eyfinity? that would be pretty cool, i think.

i agree 3x2 is a bad arrangement. any bezels in the center do not work for gaming, or work with comp. on. but 3x1 as crazyeyes said, 3x3 - this is definitely a worthwhile piece of technology.

and seriously. 3,6,9 1080p HDTVs at 60 inches each would be no harder to power than the equivalent number of 21"lcd monitors. i wish i had the cash for something like that. that is the potential of eyefinity. a motherflippin wall of tvs. what about 6 HD 1080p projectors going at 120" a piece. then there's not even a BEZEL! that's EYEFINITY!!

I have 3x 23" acers I use(2x5850). mostly for work but I have a Dport adapter coming tomorrow for me to finally use them in gaming :) I will be an Eyefinity user tomorrow,

the thing is tigger, they are really for work. that's where i see the use and they have paid me back in productivity already. it's just extra that i get to have fun with technology that i would have bought for play anyway if i could have :)

Currently one of the only Eyefinity users here, I guess.

Having extra veiwspace around my Dell 30-inch is pure bliss. The dot pitch of larger panels makes my eyes bleed, so the only way to get more real-estate is more monitors.

There's more to eyefinity than just having a large display surface...3x1, done right, gives MORE field of view, and is more than welcome in my house.

Additional monitors cost less than a single 5870, if you shop right. Just so happens, I have 4x displayport monitors, so I'm good to go, and loving it.

Cost isn't much of a factor for me, but it's a welcome upgrade to my gaming experience.

I would love to have a 5870 and 3 monitors for eyefinity, you lucky buggers :D

The retail application aspect this card represents is it's selling point not gamers.

3 monitors in front of me for bad company 2 would be nice. However usually I have a second monitor to my left for watching video's while i pwn.

6 monitors is rediculous unless you have a need for it. I've seen what 3x2 setup is like and FPS you can't see the crosshair properly which ruins it. Now what we need is frameless monitors for that to make sense and since they dont exist then it is rediculous.

Ask any digital audio station users how many monitors he has, and how many vgas he uses...for those, even the 5750 with 3 panel-support is a god-send. Eyefinity, and having the extra workspace, isn't just useful for gaming. Audio-Video editing boxes just got VASTLY less expensive.

IMO its a very clever technology BUT COMPLETELY POINTLESS

for sure. here i am talking about the entertainment opportunities but you are right, it's definitely a workhorse product. i don't need more than 3 but i remember seeing my uncle's setup when i was younger. he shot and edited video and audio (final cut) into commercials and spots and stuff. he did the video work in Midnight club 2... he had no fewer than 10 screens on this huge desk and various boxes(matrox im guessing) to make it all possible.

that setup had to have cost him more than a few thousand dollars and now it's possible to do it and more with 2 $1k cards, at higher quality. that's where their money's at with this.

When the 5750 offers triple-head, and costs less than 1/2 a new matrox TH2G unit, you bet.

Well I recognize it may not be for everybody but I get the "sense" that some of the naysayers have not actually tried it. It is one thing to look over the shoulder of someone on youtube and quite another to sit in the middle of 3 monitors driving DX11 Dirt2. The peripheral monitors really add to the experience. I have 3X 23" monitors on my 5870 (5760X1080) and have played Dirt2, MW2, MW1, LFD2 and it is absolutely awesome. Still some refinements to do. I find the MW series a little stretched looking but I think this may improve as eyefinity picks up with the game developers.

But I agree 3X2 eyefinity looks pretty useless for gaming.

as ive said 3x1 is awesome 3x2 retarded unless like me you do 3d modeling or visual audio editing in which case the extra screen space is welcomed with open arms

I'm running a 3x1 eyefinity setup and its awesome. I'm not sure how 3x2 will look like. But it has to be impressive or else why would they make it. If you find a monitor with a very tiny bezel. I think it will look great. I think if i was this guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ple5bWtIY_A&feature=related). I'd be blown away. But hey its just my opinion on the whole 3x2 Eyefinity setup.
