Crossfire 4830's on a P35 motherboard?

These benchmarks dont show very much difference.

From what i can tell "CFX3" is a 4870 x2 with a 4870 for tri-crossfire, and you can see the performance gain isnt that huge. Then again thats THREE 4870's, not two 4830's

synthetics aside, look at the bottlenecking on Crysis that the x4 slot is giving to CF3 , 22 fps vs 40 fps in 1920x1200. i guess 4830 might be less bottlenecked, but some bottlenecking will be there

yes but no matter how you look at it, two cards will still be faster than one.

with 4870's i went far more than 30% above... crysis is but one game.

Dont forget that he's gaming at a lower resolution with lower bandwidth cards, at lower graphical settings than that review. he'll be getting far more than a 30% boost.

1680x1050 was tested in that review, its the res he games at.

my thinking is that at lower res multi GPU's are a waste as the res is CPU limited. its at higher res, that multi gpu setups begin to shine

My P45 board had a 16 and 8 speed lane and when I added a second 4830 my preformance only went up 30%. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it.

I personally dont think its worth upgrading to a second card. But again are you happy with your current fps in games? If your not happy and you want more a cheap upgrade would be a second 4830. If your going to be gaming at a higher res 1900x1200 then you will need to get a beefier card or overclock the crap out of it.

that review does show a current game with great resolution/AA/F for benching but I was going off of 3d06 and Vantage which only gave minimal increases.

Personally I think the 4830 is the best budget card out, hands down. A second one does help but not as noticeable as say the 4870's in XF.

ha so I lied. I felt really guilty about spending $135 when I should be saving so I cancelled my order. Honestly my 4830 is more than enough right now. I guess I just got the hardware purchase on impulse bug lol

you want crossfire cuz you need more performance mean more FPS , so how much more FPS you expect just like 3-4 frame in crysis , no advantage from this upgrade my friend , you have two options
1- change your card to 4870 1G or gtx260
2- got a p45 mobo it is cheap even 2nd pci-e is 8x but it is 2.0 so there is no big different , and got the other 4830 and go for crossfire
