I honestly don't know what's new but there are June 2010 files included. The Feb 2010 has 146 files while the June 2010 has 157 files for reference. I count 14 June2010 specific files which include both x86 and x64 cabs. I will update this post if there is any information that specifies what this update actually improves on. These files are:
-June 2010 Xact
-June DX11
-June DX10
-June DX9
and few others that are not obvious as to what they are.

Directx June 2010

okay thanks! wonder if there will be any improvements whatsoever

Cheers, I always forget about this.

Same thing as previous two users :D New version comes so far a part that even if there is almost nothing new it's better to update. And with the last year or so not needing even a reboot with the install, even better :)

I receive the following error message when trying to extract to a new folder on the desktop:

Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file.

I don't think my rig is guilty of this accusation, so I'm betting on the Cabinet file being the culprit. What on earth is this, it is beyond my ken?

redownload it, its likely corrupt as it says

(you havnt disabled Virtual Memory have you? or set it VERY low?)

i get the low memory error, but because all the awnsers and fixes are deleted here i come with the problem again , sorry :(

but is there a place/folder where you MUST place dx or may you just randomly select a folder?

When do you get the error, Stak?

when i pick my folder(i make one) and then he starts installing for 0.1 seconds and then i get the error :(

and i just found a dx folder at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\directx but it says that the folder is onvalid :(

Can you post the exact error message?

"extracting file failed, its most likely caused by low memory (low dosk space or swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file "

Well, if you know you have plenty of disk space and that your page file is large enough, then I would try redownloding directx.

Sorry about that, I didn't want to clutter up the thread with what appeared to be posts relating to an isolated issue.

I downloaded 4 or 5 times and no joy. On the fourth or fifth attempt I decided to use IE rather than Firefox and it worked; however, I'm not sure if that had anything to do with my success, maybe I just got lucky.

Just create a New Folder on the desktop and extract to there, you can delete the folder once you have installed.

As you can see, the deleted posts didn't offer much of a fix and I suggest you simply download repeatedly until you get it to work.

ok it worked, dl from IE and done. thanks man :toast:

I'd like to know why the latest DirectX runtime isn't on Windows Update. We wouldn't have keep checking back all the time for this, then.

Interesting, so it does appear that you should use IE, I thought I just got lucky when I switched to IE, but if it also worked for you there could be more to this than meets the eye. I'm glad you got it working.

i downloaded it but instead of double clicking on it, I use Winrar to extract the files then installed it and it worked perfect

sweet thanks i always forget about this, anything special we have to do to install it? i got about 70min. till it's done downloading going to go out and work on the yard here i come 15acres

Mods, providing EastCoast is willing and assuming he will continue to post links to DirectX updates on a regular basis, couldn't he be given a stickied thread for this purpose?

Downloaded with firefox had no problems at all, i just extracted with winrar and installed it.

I'm not too familiar about the installation procedures of this. What do you do with all the files when they get extracted?

Thnx

heh... run the setup

hehe yeah once extracted there is a setup.exe file, just run that and it will install.
