Feedback & Bug Reports for new Forums

I have to admit, since the change, my posting has dropped dramatically here. For some reason, the navigation, how I do it, just isn't remotely as easy as it was with a more standard forum format. The colors have improved, but is still a long, LONG way from being as readable as a lot of forums, that is for sure. As it stands posts are one giant amoebic mess. :(

Perhaps when a 'dark' theme comes in, I will give it a try again but until then, because of how I navigate forums, these changes have only come to the detriment of the site IMNSHO. My time will be spent here mostly in the Classifieds selling stuff.

Sorry W1zz. I know you put a shed load of time into this and I am sure in a lot of respects it is working a lot better, just happens not to for me. While I am aware that a forum is not a democracy, I think gathering input from those that essentially pay the bills (no members/front end, no ad $) regarding the appearance of the site would have prevented the majority of people not liking the end result. You can't keep everyone happy, but the overall look, as we can see from the responses in this thread, isn't up to snuff compared to some others in the readability area.

Keep up your outstanding work! I will check back periodically through my FS thread... assuming I can find the damn thing again. Here is to hoping you get a dark theme... :)

Thanks again for all you do... catch you on the flip side TPU.
in the style chooser (bottom left of the page), pick test style new. it has limited width with darker sides. I also just changed it to have a slightly darker border around individual posts with a slight drop shadow

I grew accustomed to the new layout over time, but wow the Test Style New is something else! That REALLY looks good!

i've been on test style new for a while, and i'd still like something darker. depending on the screen used its still much brighter than most forums, and literally painful to look at at night

one of my monitors at work have a blue tint and the light blue of the forums blend in. I have to agree with the cat man above me.

I like test new style, but I, too, would like something darker.

i want something darker too!.

This like I posted earlier would be nice. Also the same look for the TPU homepage would be cool too.

that is too dark. something like the previous one would be good.
if its too dark, then looking at other pages at night will hurt the eyes (like looking at facebook)

no black, more shades of blue.

maybe blue and grey?

I have a billion "Watched Threads". By clicking view all watched threads, I get the option to tick boxes and then deleted those marked threads, but there isn't a Select All button. I'd rather not have to individually click each box to delete them from watched threads. Maybe I should be anal and clean as I go along, but it's just not the Coon way of things.

Also that Watched Forum button seems pointless, or is there something whismical I can do with it?

I still haven't figured out how quickly open watched threads and go to first unread posts. The alerts panel is just awkward as hell, and I have no idea how it works.

I seriously mourn the loss of the previous (rather perfect) forum. But I guess there's not point in repeating the good old "if it works, don't fix it" mantra.

Agreed...

At W1z - That new theme doesn't help much. This is just way WAY to bright with very little to distinguish sigs, and quotes, etc. I strongly prefer the dark theme listed in post #632. Thanks for trying. :)

Even with this fixed, the navigation and verbiage now used, for how I go through forums, is just brutal. I have to relearn forums and terminology just to maneuver through the site. :(

You only have to click the title and it takes you to the first unread post, weather it be in the
Sat page or three pages back. This actually works much better than the old style, since clicking the arrow would take you to the last post, not the last unread.

So when I click on an alert saying someone replied to my post somewhere, it will take me to first unread post, and not to that particular reply?

I also found "watched threads" button right on top of the forum, which is good, BUT also says something about the new design. I managed to completely overlook it. The whole new design is somewhat overwhelming (or maybe confusing) in some situations.

Maybe consider exploring a "new" site a bit first.

Um, I don't get the new test layout. All I see is that it narrows the site down. Looks like the same colors to me.

Something like the above. Make it a mix; dark setup for those that like that and then the lighter set up for those that want that.

I dont know if this is a bug but Dolphin browser really doesnt like the new layout - Ive had to resort to using Chrome. Pages load up fine but then it comes to replying or editing posts it either throws me to the top of the page or the 'cursor' jumps about resulting huge time wasted when trying to delete/edit quotes or replies.

Site works fine for browsers on PC though. It could be just my phone which is antsy with the layout, cuz it seems to work ok when im using my tablet

I got wonky stuff goin on with that browser on my phone too. What phone do you got? and also the Android version....?

Samsung GS3 i9300, Android version 4.1.2 (still waiting for 4.2 or 4.3)

I got a Gnex with 4.3 and it does the same stuff yours is and then sometimes it crashes. I turned off the RTE and it works better but i hate going without it on the desktop version though. I wish there was a mobile and a desktop seperate control panel or something.

Haven't been here in a while, glad im came back. Love the new forums, seems like most forums is upgrading to the new software. :)
No problems btw :)

Hmmmm on "test style new" on my phone it renders like this:

But on desktop it works fine.

no sure if it's been mentioned but i'd really appreciate getting the quote button back by the "thanks" and "reply" buttons.

the reply button IS the quote button.
