Had Athlon 1333 TB no overclock because of excessive heat that cooler simply wasn't up to it.

The Athlon 64 X2 3800+ i had was great. Clocked it from 2000 all the way up to 2800 with stock cooler and it stayed at 2400 for 3 years until I sold it to my father. 7800Gt hold almost 2 years with a good overclock of 450mhz on gpu and 1150-1200mhz on vram. Was smoked and they gave me a 7900gt 2 weeks before warranty time was over.

Also had a Phenom II 940 that I Clocked to 3300/3400 mhz for almost 5 years, mild oc because I didn't want to bump voltages, was otherwise good for about 3.7ghz.
HD 5850 I used with it I overclocked after 2 years to 850/1200 pretty high oc for the low voltage of 1.050 it had. Sold both later, my father still uses the Phenom II @ 3.3ghz and it does well.

Had a i7 3820 @ 4.3ghz (auto v) with NH-D14 I used for 2 years before buying current cpu.
also a HD 5970 I sometimes when it was needed used with oc of 850-890 gpu and 1200oc vram - did good work until it degraded and I sold it to someone who seems to me as a folder or other kind of gpgpu worker.

Yea that was the extended story :rockout:

I ran my 2500k on 4.4 1.2Xv for probably 4 years without issue. I then ran it at 4.8ghz 1.5Xv for a few months before it began to have instability. Then I returned to 4.4ghz 1.2Xv for a year or so until I sold it.
I had a 7970 that overclocked amazingly. I could get 1425mhz out of it for benchmarks, and could run it at 1380mhz for games. I ran it at 1380mhz for over two years before it began to have instability. Then I backed down to conservative 1250mhz and it was good for another year until I sold it.

I just have light overclocks on my CPU and GPU (I know, I know! It does plenty well for what I do, so not too motivated to push it further). 4.6 GHz @ 1.25V on the CPU and 1300-ish MHz on my GPU at stock. About two years on my CPU and 11 months on my GPU and no loss in stability this far - which really isn't a suprise with the low voltages I'm using.

Awesome result so far. I am amazed by how many CPU there have been oc for over 8 years and is still alive. Offcause it also dependt on how hot you run the cpu, how much voltage its gets and how hig clocks you are running the CPU at.
But still over 8 years of constand oc is pretty darn good. Just Shows that CPU's are pretty darn hard to kill unless you litterly overvolt it or run it way to hot.

For GPU´s oc over 8 years is also pretty good. Just shows OC does not in danger hardware as long you take the time to do it preoperly and keep temps in tjeck.

This make me wunder for how long my 4 GHz i7 920 can hold out to in the future. For now constand oc for 3 years and 6 month and still counting. Some thing tells me that my motherboard gives up before the cpu does it.

Considering CPU clock speed results a tight loop of voltage, watts consumed, and heat expelled. As long as you don't over do it with the voltage being feed to CPU creating more waste heat causing the CPU's transistors to consume more power (watts.) I've noticed when overclocking my GPU (Tahiti) even with the voltage maxed out (1.3) and the clockspeed set at 1150 MHz the GPU starts out running cool. But as the GPU heats up the AMPS consumed starts out low then jumps way up in relation to the waste heat the transistors are generating (leaking electrical current at the transistor level?)

Edit: Not sure if I explained that right. A graph with a sloping curve (voltage/clockspeed/heat) or a diagram (with a loop) would work better.

I have a couple ancient units still running, still overclocked 8+ years later. My main rig isn't old enough to earn a badge of age yet though.

I've varied the OC of my 980BE, but most of the time it's at 4200MHz.
Had a 7600GT, pencilmodded for 3 years (edit, 4 years), with a 720MHz OC from 560MHz. My current 7750 is at 950MHz, for a year and a half.

Wait, this is a trap right? You're trying to find people on TPU that don't overclock so you can shame them. I mean, overclocking hardware is the default state of being is it not? Not overclocking is like going to an AA meeting just 'cos you like the plastic chairs.

3930k at 4.2 or 4.4Ghz since Nov 2011. Change GPU 1-1.5 yr cycles but always overclock. Had Original Titan at 1.38v for a bit with the voltage soft mod, can't recall clocks (high). 780i Classy was at 1200+ and the current 980ti at 1501Mhz. Before all that had HD7970 at 1300Mhz

Flimsy motive considering 85% of the TPU viewership do overclock or am I wrong?

Q6600 G0 had since launch plus Asus P5K Premium Black Pearl. Pretty much within first week of owning Q6600 I went to 3.3GHz and then few weeks later 3.4GHz, then few years back 3.555GHz (Limit 3.6GHz). Will update post with some voltage info. Originally it must have had a ThermalRight SI-120 on it and later TRUE Rev.A. I can't recall the original set of RAM at building of rig but in recent years Corsair Dominator TwinX 4GB @ 1058MHz 2T.

GPU wise Sapphire Toxic HD5850 1GB, had since launch on factory OC. I have on occasions OC'd further will have to dig up screenies. A while back I had a spare Hawaii card to bung in the Q6600 rig, a) due to Hawaii kicking more heat into case b) as Q6600 got moved into smaller case when I built my i5 4690K I dropped OC to 3.4GHz profile and it did 70hrs+ f@h on CPU/GPU with 0 bad states :D, screenshot f@h main window and log window.

:respect: Q6600 still in active service duty :D.
See I'm not disagreeing with what you and others say but to me it's not just the OC, it's what it's done all its life , if it's folded 3+ years at 4.8 then Id consider that a more durable part then if it had mostly idled or been less permanently powered or loaded.

The Q6600 G0 was my daily usage machine up until 2015 Q1, that's when I finally built the i5 4690K. It started off with a X1950 Pro or XT (I still have the cooler in PC bits hoard), then a 8800 GTX (IMO a classic GPU). That was the first GPU I folded on heavily, I upgraded the cooler to an Arctic Cooling Accelero when available. I used to have a 1680x1050 monitor, but when I did get a 1080P plasma (for the living room) I recall my jaw dropping playing some games at 1080P on the 8800 GTX. Later it went in a mate's son's PC, I got a GTX 280 or 285 (as AMD were pants for f@h), killed that within a few months . Unfortunately as it was a used card via ebay no warranty, then went Sapphire Toxic HD 5850. Then I stopped folding, but still used daily for gaming, etc. IIRC it's also had 2 sets of RAM as it never started off with 4GB.

When building the i5 I did place the Q6600 G0/mobo/RAM on ebay, slightly crazy price as didn't want to part with it for cheap, no one bought it so I kept :) . I ended up with a spare Hawaii card through the course of 2015 so it saw some f@h action again, several times I did 48hrs+, later it even had spare Fiji card in it.

I genuinely felt bad when I moved it out of the SilverStone TJ 06 to a Fractal Design Core 2300 (yeah I'm attached to that piece of silicon :twitch: :D ). Just to get the same OC buzz from the i5 as the Q6600 G0 I went and got a 2nd i5, which OC'd well, sold the 1st.

I work from home, so my PC does get used a lot.

What do I tick if I am currently overclocked but it hasn't died yet?

If I tick "under a year" that will make the poll look like Overclocked hardware is only lasting a year or less.

But since I actually believe this overclock will last for years to come that wouldn't really be helpful by ticking that box for the purpose of the poll?

Would I just be better not participating?

Or am I missing the point.. lol ?

If it's not folding it's not stable , that's what I say;):(

Also, a permanent clocked regardless of chip option is required.

It's a current status thing, so if your overclock is under 1 year, click under 1 year.

If it's not folding it's not stable , that's what I say;):(

Also, a permanent clocked regardless of chip option is required.
That me. I OC anything. It must survive 24/7 for a whole week folding or BOINCing.

Though, I did manage to kill a OG Titan by folding, and that was on stock volts and clocks....go figure. At least the one I got from RMA was a tank instead. That thing survived folding until I sold it off.

Reason I love my Tis, they manage to survive the BOINC Pentathlon doing PrimeGrid. Can't wait for FFW to come up again. The Tis will be going for another round of abuse this year.

Very nice. They do put some nice numbers out. They are also good to BOINC with. I'm kind of waiting for the big dies to nab another AMD card to mess with again. Use to abuse the crap out of a 7970. It like that thing could not die. I just hope by the big dies they can get some decent Linux drivers out since I run my folder under Linux for the extra points it gets over Windows while doing folding and boincing.

That's at stock boost clocks I'm holding some in reserve for competition, Im hoping Vega and Zen fit in a LAN case and push 4k nice tbh cos I'm presently sat at a mate's while he's gaming, well I say gaming he's failed to get into an mp on a few games so far.
Only thing there I've not tried there is Linux, I'm not great with it , that's all I'll say, 7970s rock still so says my friends son.

Bought a I7 5820K and a 280mm Kraken X61 cooler. replaced it with 2x 140mm Noctua fans and keep them at 60% rpm at all times. overclocked the CPU to 4.4 Ghz and temps never exceed 60C° ..dead silent at 1.3V :)
