What I think you're asking is: Do I need to download these to keep them after the giveaway period?

No. Once added to your Library, they'll be there for you to download forever. You do need to add them from the store page, the free games aren't automatically added to everybody.

Also: Yes, if there are patches made to the game, your game would be patched in the future.

Thanks, that's all good, i find a free game, while it's free i add it to the library, then i download it when i want, excellent, even updates, perfect.

this is a good game, I have played it before, will be fun on heroic launcher steam deck OLED

I dunno, it didn't grip me the same way Sunless Sea did, which is excellent and I've played it a bunch. It's a VERY different game though, maybe I should give it another go... Immedietly I was turned off by the speed of the ship, that felt wrong, and there was no horror to it and very little of the strangeness of literally everything in Sunless Sea. But again, it's a completely different game and that was probably what turned me off as everyone says and and even the game itself look like Sunless Sea but like newer.
