Looking at the writing on the core is only one of the ways of determining what core a card has. For cards with R423, R430, or R480; there is another way of determining which it has. I posted this in the first post for the topic:

Another way is to look at the fuses data in ATITool that shows up when you hold shift and click on settings. If it is R480 or R430 then CONFIG_DIE_FUSES will look like 0xFFFF?FFF and CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES will look like 0xFFFFFF9? where the "?" can be any digit. After you determine that it is R480 or R430, to distinguish between the two you can check how high the GPU can be safely overclocked. Many (or most) R430 chips cannot reach 450 MHz and all (as far as I know) cannot reach 470 or above. If your's exceeds what the R430 is capable of and matches the pattern above, then your card very likely has the R480 GPU.

I haven't seen any exceptions for that method so far. BTW, I didn't mention that if none of the conditions there are met and that the card does at least have one of the three PCI Express GPUs, that the card has R423, but that's kind of implied.

I just changed my cooler to an ATI SIlencer 5 rev 2 for my Connect3d X850pro Vivo with 1.6ns samsung memory and now is great oc.I look at the chipset and i read this

i got 6057 points in 3dmark 2005 with this config..
A64 3000+ venice OC from 1800mhz to 2433mhz (memory down from PC3200 to PC2700) now is at 220mhz with diferent divider
Connect3d X850pro with Ati Silencer and OC from 500/500 to 570/610 (at 574 GPU the card shuts down itself and only a PC reset would bring back the things) and memory at 621mhz i have artifacts and of course 12pipes :(( now...
How is the score ?
 
i cant open that rabit thing

i down load that rabit thing to look my mu bios. but cant get it to open.. iv read this hole post and kinda get lost very fasy.. i Just got a ATI x850Pro AGP and wanting to make it in to a x850xt with 16 pips my gpu is r481. I and run a Northwood 3.4HT , 2x1024 DDR PC 3200 Cl 2.0.3.2.5. i will try to send a copy of the biso bump with this post...Bios

No, it's the last digit on that one that you want to look at. Mine has a 9 in that second to last spot, too. So do X850 XT PE cards. Your's will definately be able to get 16 pipelines, since the rest are all F's.
 
Sweeet... way cool lolol:slap: :respect: .. Ok.. that brings me to the questoin of.. if it gos bad.. the Flash it is.. can it be undone ??:confused: and will i need to do the bios ting to rename it to x850xt... i dont want to make it a PE.. just a xt... And will i also need to bios the fan to a xt .. hmmm .. " im on the edge of my seat"

Yep, flashing back is easy, even if it goes totally wrong and you end up with a black screen, flashing back is really simple.

Just stick the floppy disk in that you used to flash, that contains the original bios, restart and wait for your computer to stop loading from floppy, and type:

atiflash -p -f -newbios 0 [original bios].bin

(provided you used atiflash)

nope sorry you got a D instead of a F so its 12 pipeline core locked!
 
anybody here is talented enouf to make a x850 XT bios with the fan controler working on the PRO vivo (so i can get all the feature of an XT ,including ati overcloking thing,)

my card was a x850 pro vivo now flashed with XT bios and using atitool to push fan at 100%, i would like the very same bios but with the x850 pro fan setting!!! it would be very much apreciated!! thank you
 
i have a question , i wanna modding my x800gto this is the info... what bios i can use for mod? i want unlocking the 4 extre pipes, and oc a little the core and mems.

ok.. So i guess lest dothis... Remember i have a x850Pro. and want to mod it to a x850xt with fan controll / i hear that making it a xt PE will over heat it to mush.. I will be happy with it as a x850xt with 16 pips.. . And here is my Bios dump...How do i put it in wen you redo the bios. ?

just use atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 x850xtpe.bin then reboot and use atiflash -f -p 0 x850pro.bin (using the newbios will enable the 16pipe then flashing oit back without -newbios will make the card back to default BUT it will keep the 16 pipe
 
you say to use the Club3d X800XL, with r430 core to flas with.. But i have a x850Pro with r431 ??
Ans i and now reading the Guid ting on how to d this . Coz when you all say " just use atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 x850xtpe.bin then reboot and use atiflash -f -p 0 x850pro.bin " I dont have a Clue on what your talking about lolol.. I hope its not a long Book

Oh. by the way. I dont know if this will help you all . but here is my specs on my PC
P4 3.4HT Northwood
2x1024 DDR Cl2.0.3.2.5
ATI x850Pro
Gigabit 1000Pro, ves1 Mobo Chipset 865/848(springable)
2x 80 gigs HD 1 WD and 1Old HP HDas back up
 
nice system, are those 2x80 WD hard drives in RAID 0? I like the timings on that RAM too :D How far can the P4 go?
 
thx.. it has taken me 3 years to get it all together.. A pice at a time .:toast: And no.. One HD is WD and the other is my old HP HD .. i don tnow what Raid 0 is.. i just have then both on the ribben.. But my mobo came with two things that go form the HD to the bord , but i dont know how i shuld do it or if i can with then not being the brand of HD.. As for OC the 3.4HT. I cant get it over defalt speed with out the PC crashing.. Im told its coz its a Noorthwood .. But dont know..
 
Cool.

RAID 0 is where the system writes half the data to each drive, which decreases read/write times. The drive is recognised as 1x 160gig drive in windows :D Very nifty.

You might not have a very good motherboard for overclocking, or there's another factor stopping you. A 3.4ghz Northwood should get to 3.6ghz without too much trouble.

Anyway, nice job :)
 
OH.. my x850Pro is AGP also....Im reading that link you told me to..i see a list of Bios.. and one for a x850xt AGP 256MB... will i be useingthat one ?? for do you have to Hand make each one ?? And will who ever dose this be putting in the Fan mod boid thing also ??? You guys should be making monet at this ... :respect:
 
ok.. i have read that.. i have made my Bootable Floppy.. and have downloaded Atiflashv3.09 there was two this there.. i put the Blue border thing to a Floppy. What was the other file with it. " CHG file... ..
lets see if i got this right..
Frist i set PC Bios to boot from floppy.. with bootable foppy in it ???
2. put in the floppy with Atiflash on it in.. -s 0 oldbios.bin , then enter.. " where dose it save it at "
3. Typin -f -p 0 "NewBiosname.bin" enter
4. go to PC bios set boot form HD agin then save and exit and WOOOPEY i have x850xt ?
