Personally I'd get the crossfire motherboard for £80 and pair it with a single 512 MB 4870 for £115, performance wise it will only be slightly slower than the 4770 crossfire (faster if overclocked) yet you'll save a lot of money. And if your suspicions are correct and game developers start catering for crossfire drop in a secondary 4870.
Either way you'll benefit from:
Either way you'll benefit from:
- Single 4870 cheaper than 4770 crossfire, money saved (more money saved with non CF board)
- Single solution with similar performance, perhaps faster if overclocked
- Ability to drop in a secondary 4870 if crossfire support in games takes off
- Purchasing the secondary 4870 in a year will be cheaper than today's prices
- Having 4770 crossfire will be slower than 4870 crossfire in a year.
