How do you remove the intel clamp down

First I dont know really what it's called. It's the thing that presses down the chip into place. How do you remove that?

Oh that. I had that problem on my EVGA. It didnt seem as though it wanted to close, but I took a chance and clamped it down anyway. Im assuming you have the CPU in correctly? By how much does it not want to close?

O it's closed all the way. When I put my cooler/phase on it the paste does not smooth out. meaning it's not touching

Are you sure you've got the hs in there all the way, they can be touchy. I don't know if taking that thing off is a good idea, you might run into trouble.

Some of the 775 foxconn batches have ones that you have to wiggle the socket with the cpu out of the mobo to get it to fit.

Man, now the board just turns on for a sec or two then turns off.....

I have came up to bios, then right before it goes in the machine turns off.....

Ripped all the stuff that I put on the board, well the top of the board.

Put the stock fan on and it's fine.

It looks like it's still not touching the cpu.....starting the PC with no cooler on the CPU does odd things you know LOL.

Talk about a small hart attack on a 500 dollar board with 1000dollar CPU.....

Download and read the "Tech Breif" Here.

Read Section 3.2.2 Socket Actuation Mechanism. You either messed something up or do not have "...the FORCE necessary to achieve the required resistance values...".

To remove the plate the lever pushes down on the CPU just lift it in upright position and pull with a little twist.

If you get a chance, post a pic of the mount for the evap. I've ran into some phase mounting systems that have a problem hitting the chokes or caps around the socket before they make contact, but not sure how it's possible for the retaining mechanism to be a problem?

BTW; I took that off my board also for dry ice/ln2 benching, for me it was just easier to insulate without it.
