How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

1.0 final version for XP 32 bit

it means. we'll sort out.

Hi ANatolymik,

The final version for XP 32 bit is 1.0 build 20.13, right?
Im trying to install it and I get BSOD on startup, but the previous final version before the latest updates works OK.
Can u send PM me that one if its not much to ask?
I also noticed that the previous was even a higher number version than 20.13.

BTW, using 266.44

Thanks!

I am using the SLI Patch v0.7 alpha (Win 7 home premium 32bit) with the forceware 257.15, this appear to be the only combination that works for me, any other attemp ends in BSOD, thats why a need to learn how to modify the forcewares like we used to do with the 190.62, cause i feel this method way more stable

Is there someone that want to give me a hand to modify the 260.99

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND THANKS

But the previous version to the final one worked just fine on XP 32bit.
Does anyone have the one released on the 19th? and please, please, PM it to me?

Thx in advanced

Hi Francko79 here is what you are looking for

http://www.mediafire.com/?hweufl6pri0c51z

all 4 SLI Patches, including the released on december 19th

Merry Christmas all! And great work on the patch.

I am having issues myself, running GTX460 in SLI on a GA-P55A-UD3.

I have read a lot of the tips posted to others having similar issues and still have no luck getting the patch to work.

I have followed the process correctly, each time doing the following:

1) Disable any SLIPatch
2) Uninstall Forceware
3) Reboot to Safe Mode
4) Run Driver Sweeper
5) Reboot to Windows and install Forceware XXX
6) Reboot to Windows and install SLIPatch 0/1.X

I have tried the following combinations:

1.a) 258.96 + 0.8b
1.b) 258.96 + 0.9b
1.c) 258.96 + 0.91b
1.d) 258.96 + 1.0
2.a) 260.99 + 0.9b
2.b) 260.99 + 0.91b
2.c) 260.99 + 1.0
3.x) 265.90 + N/A

The 265.90 drivers simply run through a constant kernel crash/restart loop - the drivers, not the PC - until I have to hard-reset.

The rest of my attempts all end with the exact same issue; Once Windows has finished loading, all I get is a black screen and no desktop. There is no startup sound, so the desktop is not loaded, and swapping the DVI connection does nothing to help.

Are there any particular BIOS settings I need to enable/disable?

Cannot use the 257.15 drivers with my card.

anatolymik, any help for me mate?

All I get is a grey screen on startup. I have also tried with an SLI cable and it still refuses to work.

link updated. fixed bug for x32 systems

Hi "anatolymik" can you describe exactly what bug did you fix for x32 systems, thanks for your time.

when you get grey screen? can you enable sli? tell me about in detail please

I get the grey screen immediately after the Windows loading screen. Then there is no disk activity so Windows stops loading, and I never reach the desktop.

Hiya, I noticed you're using a Gigabyte MB.

I could be way off base, however I suspect your issue is nothing to do with the patch. Gigabyte MB's are notoriously problematic where ACPI is concerned, which is used by SLI. If you google it, many people are reporting SLI not working even on 'certified' Gigabyte MBs. It seems that ACPI isn't working in the BIOS as it's supposed to.

It might be worth digging around to see who's having a good experience and then buy the same MB. Although I do hope I'm totally wrong! If it is an ACPI problem what it means, in my limited understanding, is ACPI can't assign the resources for both the cards when they're running in SLI - don't know why it should be different for non-SLI tho. Either way I would look for a BIOS update with ACPI updated (I think GB call it something else in the BIOS, can't recall what), however I fear with that MB you maybe sunk.

Anyone else having issues with their gpus recognizing a second monitor through hdmi with latest nVidia drivers 260.93 on Win7 x64?

Disregard this. My issue appears entirely to be result of bad HDMI adaptor. Other then that many thanks for the crack, used 0.9 Beta to enable SLI with latest nVidia 260.99 drivers for my cards.

I will be testing this today with non SLI certified Gigabyte GA-X58 DS4 with two GTX 465s. Wish me luck. Where is the damn UPS truck? :toast:

DroneHive any news? did you move cards?

Hi, and happy new year!

Took me some time to do another test since I was away from main machine, then got a lot of work...

Moved cards to adjacent PCI slots as you suggested (had them spaced for cooling). Tried a couple of driver versions, finally 260.99, and SLIPatch 1.0. Things have changed in the way I get a BSOD instantly at boot now when using SLI patch boot (machine works without a hitch in normal boot, just no SLI of course).

In normal boot both cards seen, I can set PhysX to second card, but not much else.

Too bad I was hoping to try this http://www.techspot.com/news/34091-parallels-introduces-workstation-extreme.html without having to buy an insanely priced Z800. But that needs Quadro (dunno if there are still ways to softquadro geforce boards) and SLI (and Xeon with VT-x and VT-d, but this the Supermicro board has it, as well as 5520 chipset and theorically enough PCI 16x lanes to power 4 GPU, just no SLI...)
