Large Address Aware

Thank you for responding.

It is a base x86 executable.
That it is not to be used on a native x64 file seems obvious.
Why, btw, would anyone DOWNGRADE a program?
Seems illogical.
Without any information on the exe itself, all i can do is guess

It is a tool, called Renamer.
It is used to mass-edit files.
And believe me ... I have a LOT of files.

This is mere 1 of many partitions.
A total of 16+TB

And you're seeing this hit 2GB RAM usage and crashing?

I just tested LAA and it altered the portable version of that file to be large address aware and saved just fine.

Note that it says file has been loaded - this saved correctly.

Thank you.
It did not work for me, seeing this, I did a reboot.
After the reboot,, being in windows, and now it accepts the LAA setting.
Might have been a hick-up?

If the program was running, you cant alter it

Hello everyone, I used this software with medieval 2 total war following all the steps correctly and when I went to run the game it returned the error 0xC0000142, I have tried many things that supposedly solve this type of problem but the solutions seen are useless on youtube  I have decided to come to the source of the program in question with the hope that you can help me

Sigh.
Googling this, it's an issue with pirated copies of the game and the LAA mod. not something we can help you with here.

Hello,

Unfortunately we don’t direct or link to communities that support such things.

thanks.

thanks.

I understand , I did not know that the issue was related to piracy and I was looking for it thinking that it was something technical. I apologize and thank you for helping me. In future doubts or contributions I will be more appropriate for the forum.

Hello. Thank you for the detailed information on the fix.
However, I tried all mentioned in the post and could not resolve this.
No matter what I try I still get an error message in world of warcraft related to not enough mamory.

What I have tried so far:
- Updated .NET framework on my PC via the windows update
- Opened both (program and game exe) filex with administrator settings
- Tried all modes of the software without any luck

Please advise of something else I can try here. Thank in advance!

What error? What version of WoW?

Theres more than one kind of memory related error, some could be as simple as running out of space for your page file on your C: Drive.

I play WoW 3.3.5 in Warmane
I've got 16gb of ram and 8gb GPU
This error only happens when there are too many people in the capital city.
Sometimes also happens in Wintergrasp. Long story short it happens when there are two many players around me.
I have also enough space on my HDD. More than 100gb free in C:/

Please advise me if you need any more details and how do you think I can fix that? It is really annoying. TIA

WoW 3.3.5 in Warmane
I don't know what warmane is - this isn't the WoW forums so you need to provide details here.
Is wow 3.3.5 x64, or x86? Is Warmane a seperate .exe file you run?

That crash is indeed typical of the crashing that LAA fixes, when that happens you need to check

1. How much RAM was the game using (Or measure how high it is when not crashing, so we can see if it's 2GB of 4GB limited)
2. How large your page file is - try setting it manually to 16GB
3. How much free space is on the page file drive (100GB)

Virtual memory is Physical memory and page file together - but when it comes to older game engines VRAM is included in there as well, since that's duplicated into system RAM.
The LAA mod will only work for x86 titles in an x64 OS, to raise the 2GB limit to 4GB. It can't let it use x64 amounts of RAM (above 4GB)

A quick google shows the game uses the 2GB limit normally, so high resolution gameplay (and high texture quality) combined with any mods, is going to cause it to run out fastest.

The Warmane forums had answers for this - including linking to here.

Thank you for your answer.

The steps suggested in the Warmane forum are aplicable if ther are mods installed (WoD) which I do not as I have fresh WoW install without those mods so the files I have in "Data" folders are different.
I checked their forum first and this is how I find the solution here with LAA as this is my only option.

It seems that this option with LAA work for many people but for some reason I cannot make it work :X
My OS is x64 although I am not sure how to check if the wow client is x86. Can you tell me how can I check that?

Is there any way of fixing this guys? I am really really annoyed by this stupid game and I desperately trying to fix it somehow. Apperently I always come back to this solution but I am unable to make it work. I am on windows 11 x64. Please share any tips on how to fix this and make it work. It really interferes with my gameplay

The client you're using isn't the one warmane offers on their download page. You should download theirs just in case, it's a regular clean wotlk client, and apply LAA to the wow.exe then. That's the client I use and ever since I LAA'd it I haven't had memory errors, not even in that zone. And yes, I am playing on a 16GB pc, only I don't use a public beta operating system like windows 11.

If you're not using the .exe files you're meant to, that's why it's not working.

WoW itself supports x64 and has for a long time, before that it required a 64 bit OS despite the game being 32 bit to get this LAA change working as part of the official client

As of 2018 it's been x86 w/ LAA, or x64 as the only two choices. Don't run a client older than that, and don't run mods and content heavy settings on the x86 client.

Thank you for your answer!
I dont think understand what suppose to mean "Don't run a client older than that" as I am using the original client in the folder without any mods. Are you referring to the .exe file itself or anything else please?

shhnedo gave me a great suggestion as I was using the game downloaded from different place. I got the original one now from the Warmane's page and indeed the game ran better without errors for a few days however I still got one while they were again too many players on screen. Kindly check screenshot. So, is there any other suggestions I can try about that?
I appreacite your help guys!

That looks like an actual memory error, not running out of memory

Well damn... I honestly don't know what else to think. Did you apply Large Address Aware to the warmane client you downloaded? If not, then do it.
Otherwise I don't see any other solution. It will probably come down to your individual config(hardware+software) and how the game runs on it.

Hi Guys,

I have attached a screenshot of my Large Address Aware. Does this mean that WOW.exe file now can use more than 2GB ram? From what I can tell in task manager, it seems that WOW.exe is still capped at 2GB. Did I do anything wrong here? Also what does the true/fales below LAA and original mean in the screenshot below?

It depends when you can actually use the LAA on exe, WOW is in a case where you can't allow more RAM.

Missing a lot of information here, you'd need to be running a 64 bit OS and then it could use 4GB

Since WoW has a 64 bit exe, you'd just want to use that newer version...

Hello,

I tried to use LAA, after running .exe this message appears:

Anyone got solution for this?
