I could not find Visotek anywhere.

Are you sure it is not Viotek or Visiontek?

Anyway, how about an update, any progress yet?

first things first-thank you for your help and hope you have a good Sunday.
you are correct in that there is no viotek, it is visiontek.
i have the 24pin power connector in, cpu 4 pin connected. all of the fw head connections are placed in correctly, a sata wire that is connected in (a part of the case) and the audio wire II connected to my mobo.
when I turn on the power the only thing that happens is the little green "standby" light comes on and that is it. nothing else. no noise, fans don't move. it just looks like a little green neon bogger is on my mobo.

Did you try unplugging all the other cables/wires to see if it would start?

I would try this:

Remove the motherboard from the chassis, place it on a non-conductive surface (the box the motherboard came in is perfect) and only connect the 24-pin, 4-pin CPU and front panel on/off wires.

First, double check that the RAM is seated properly, the CPU socket does not have any bent pins, the CPU cooler is properly installed.

Also, did you try to reset the BIOS by removing the battery for a few minutes?

I'm not trying to be an a**hole here but it might be time to take it to your local Frys and have them finish it up for you. Or you should try and find a local mom and pop shop that will let you see what the tech is doing. That way you can see what he/she is doing and can ask questions.

When I built my first PC many moons ago I was fortunate enough to have a knowledgeable friend there to assist me. If I ran into an issue or had a question he was right there.

guys thanks for all of your help. Major A is right, that is what I have to do. I did take the battery out (the you tube clip was perfect), i set the mobo on the box it came in and did the minimum connections to the mobo and still nothing. I have done everything right to my knowledge and applied everything that all of yall have suggested. I appreciate your help. I will let you know how things end.

Please do let us know what the problem is.

Good luck.

Although, from your description, it almost sounds like a PC I repaired for a friend's moither.

It was a five year old Gateway. The PSU gave out, and took out the motherboard with it went. The on-board LED lit up, but nothing else worked, even with a new PSU.

I ended up installing a new motherboard and PSU. I reused the CPU, but had to get DDR2 RAM, as the old board used DDR. I tested the old DDR in another board, and it was fine.

o.k. guys-huge embarassment 4 me! what is the 2nd most important thing to make a comp run? well the first is power, the 2nd- anybody anybody? The F'n cpu! the guy when I bought the comp said all I had to do was to put the fan on and was good! where was the cpu you ask? on the side of the cardboard that holds the cpu fan! so the cpu chip was on the side of the box. was it facing you when you opened the the box? nooooooo! it was on the backside of the cardboard that held the fan.

now I have a new problem. now I get on my monitor ( yes ladies and gentleman I have the comp completely hooked up) intel says on my screen that there is "no bootable device when I put the dvd in. so I have a blue ray player now so could the disc not be read because it is a blu-ray player?

stop laughing guys-I know some of you are laughing hystericaly about the cpu!

I am not laughing...much.

That is OK, we were all novices at one time.

Anyway, I am glad to hear that everything is hooked up and working.

About the 'no bootable device', do you have Windows installed, or are you trying to install Windows?

You have to tell the BIOS the correct boot order. Apparently it has a hard drive before the Blu-Ray drive. So it's trying to boot Windows off of a drive that doesn't have Windows. Go to the Boot Sequence in the BIOS and put the Blu-Ray drive 1st.

k, i'm under : system settings, boot, boot device priority. under there is gives the following in this exact order. optical drives, removable devices, hard disk drives, network
on the "hard drive order" it sayd "no hard disk drive"
on optical drive order it says "atapi ihos104".
I changed the boot priority to - optical drive. is that the dvd drive? i changed it to that and i still got the same error message.
I can see the finish line. I know i'm almost there.

under system setup-boot-boot driver order do i select the ATAPI iHOS104 or the IBA GE Slot 00CB?

ATAPI iHOS104 is the optical drive (it's a Lite-On, I can tell by the model name).

The Boot order should be Optical Dive, Hard Disk Drive, etc...

After you reboot with the right order you'll see a prompt that says "Press a button to start Windows" or something to that effect. From there follow the steps to install Windows.

i do not have windows on my comp. yet. it is it's first time loading up. i tried to put in the windows cd and got the same message
my computer flashes the intel screen real quick and then starts to look for the bootable device

o.k. after messing around and taking advice from everyone I think i have it somewhat figured out. I kept putting in the "intel express intaller" dvd back in and was getting the same message. so i thought, "hey, just for the heck of it put the windows 7 disk in". well i did and now it is starting windows.
you know, i'm typing so much here i should jusrt start a blog, if i were going to i'd have to come up w/ a creative name for it.

So did you get it installed? Do you have the BIOS set to IDE or AHCI/RAID? If it's AHCI/RAID and you didn't install the drivers with the Windows install you'll get Blue Screens. Install it as IDE then make it AHCI.

Here's how: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=313676

Afternoon ladies and gentleman! I am trying to install windows. I need to select which to put windows. My options are : local disk C. cd drive and boot(X). I thought it would be "C" however when I click on that I am told there are no media drivers and to install them. So I thought I would need to re-start my computer w/ the "Intel xpress installer disk". the computer does not recognize and asks for a bootable disk. when the windows disk is in the dvd player it asks fot the bootable disk. I click on "anykey" and windows 7 starts right up. I am almost there guys. Please help me thru this last little bit.

guys hold on it says it is installing. keep you posted.

@autigerfan,

I know you are new to this, I am not trying to scold you or anything, but it would be extremely helpful if you would do the following:

1) List all of your components. Fill out your specs in the forum User Control Panel.

2) When asked about what it is you are doing, and what you are trying to do, give specific answers, and if you are unsure about the question, just say so that it might be explained better.

3) It is often quite helpful if you post pictures of what it is you are asking about.

4) I believe you cannot provide too much information, even if it is irrelevant, that is better than omitting necessary details.

Now, I will try to help you get Windows installed.

First of all, forget about the 'Intel' disk. If it is what I believe it to be (the drivers for your motherboard), you do not need it until after Windows is installed.

As you already have the boot priority set, insert the Windows 7 disk and restart the PC.

Here is a step-by-step tutorial with screenshots.

Part 1- http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/windows-7-clean-install-part-1.htm

Part 2- http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/windows-7-clean-install-part-2.htm

Part 3- http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/windows-7-clean-install-part-3.htm

Once Windows is installed, go to Windows update and do all the updates. After the PC restarts, do it again, until no more updates appear.

If you have any questions, please ask.

EDIT: I see you got it started while I was posting.

Arctucas as you are well of my multiple difficulties in trying to get this comp. up and running. Your post was a slap in the face to help me re-gain focus. (after spending 4 days trying to find and fix a problem when it was a cpu that I did not put in-stooopid of me but I digress).
I have run into issues w/ installing windows 7. the website you suggested was going well (all of which I had previosly done) win7 cannot find a place to put itself.

It asked for drivers?

Again, what hard drive; manufacturer and model number?

As I mention previously, sometimes a picture really helps.

i put all of the information you asked for under my profile i believe but i did enter i.
now my new issue is that when windows is starting up, the bar at the bottom of the screen states that windows is gathering for win7 install, right after that the screen goes black. I can still move my cursor around w/ my mouse. The screen is completely black w/ my big white mouse cursor the only thing on it. This is a new issue.
to help try to solve this issue, i turned off my computer completely. even turned off the monitor and the fan for several minutes just to cover any bases. turned everything back on. and intel asked for a bootable disk in which i inserted win7. then once the white progession bar completed itself the screen goes black.
it seems as if win7 is stuck on it way to the blue screen when it is ready for the install.

got the "system specs" to show under my profile on the side now.
