Modded SLI Forceware

ill deff let you know atm im working on some things with them that i think will either allow sli or at least show more options. every step in this is bounds imo

sli on intel

Hey solaris good to hear ur still going ahead with the drivers for sli...cuz i decided to just wait and not trade my two 8800gt,s so i will be ready whenever you have a new update..thanks for all the help ...Steve

Hey I completely missed this topic before. I am doing the same project basically. We should pool our efforts we might be able to figure this out. I see you've made some progress so far. I've tried modifying the drivers themselves so perhaps if we combine the two... I am going to send sinister some of my drivers to try and he can let me/us know.

Keep up the good work!

the only way you can approach this is by reverse engineering the driver, understanding its code, finding where the check is if sli can be enabled and remove that check. maybe an actual nvidia chipset with certain features is really required for sli operation, for current gpu generations this has never been investigated.

good luck. dont expect "a few hours" to get this done

if it works, be ready to face the wrath of nvidia's legal department
i agree , if u get it done , it could be the same situation as daniel_k with creative .

Good luck to you . If u r successful , u could have a million thx in ur TPU account .

This news will certainly overshadow nvidia's next generation launch and ur success will be on the front page of every tech site and there will be a tleast 50 page threads on evry major forum.

Hey, I definately want in on this. I have access to LOTS of hardware so I am more than willing to help out. My personal system (see my sig) has 2 9800 GTX. I'd love to be able to SLI these guys. I have XP Pro 32-bit, Vista Ultimate 32-bit/64-bit. I mainly use Vista 64, but I can help with the other OS's as well. Just let me know.

thats nice to hear , just bumping ur reply so these guys should not miss it.

These guys need people like u with lots of hardware .

Thanks for the support wolf! Much appreciated by myself and Sol as well I'm sure.

W1zzard is right however. I did whip up my set in a few hours a week or so ago but I haven't been able to test them. He is right this will surely take more than just registry tricks. Working on it..

ill help out it will be a few days im mad sick and my system is acting quirky

i appreciate the held bluevelvetjacket..i mean i apprecite the help

and thnx

BYUSinger84 having someone with alot of hardware really helps out as ppl dont usually buy 2x nvidia grfx cards and an intel chipset ya know?

i remember talking to someone in the know, who said all that is really needed is some bit in the bios. The drivers check for that, and decide whether its SLI enabled or not (as well as whatever other checks exist)

So you'd need to look into that, you'd need drivers, video cards, and mobo/bios to all report SLI ready for it to work.

well i can see in some parts of the .ini that their is the device ID for nvidia boards...so technically in order to trick the driver in theorry it would be like adding a card..to add support for a card you simply add the device ID to the list...so in theory it would also work for motherboards if you simply added the chipset deivice ID for like an ati chipset.

I PM'd some information to you, Sol, a little while ago about this. To sum that PM up we were talking about emulation.

I beleive what I was thinking of that it will only be available on Vista 32 bit.

i'm glad to see so many people wanting to contribute to this project, and solaris, make good use of their offerings man! (and upload solaris dvd at the same time...)

sli forceware

Sounds good guys, nice to see others working on these sli drivers...And if I need to change to vista or whatever to get the sli to work on my m3a32-mvp deluxe mo bo I will do so..so just everyone let me know when you guys have gotten somewheres with all this..Thanks all...Steve

I dont know if anyone wants to send direct message to me about sli drivers or what not but in case heres my e mail hod333@hotmail.com ...thanks...steve

Reason: forgot a fart inside my pants

Thats funny as f***.

More serious side of things, I can help out but won't be able to test them AT ALL. Can't test with any nVidia cards, wife doesn't want me touching her HTPC. So I could help but probly won't TBH.

sli drivers

K sounds good dude...Le t me know whenever ur ready ..mk later...Steve

i can do some minor testing, i have a friend with an 8800GT, but i cant borrow it often - when a driver with good odds of working come out, i can participate by testing it out on my P35 board.

Yeah no problem :) I work for a computer store so yeah, that should say it all. I have access to my own personal computers which include my main one (the x38 abit board), and I have a 680i board. So, whatever you need, let me know. I can also get my hands on some 8800 series cards too if need be.

Just so you know, I run Vista 64 bit, so anything we test either we'd have to do it in that, or I'll have to install XP/Vista 32. Let me know. :) I've been wanting someone to take this on for a long time. I'm glad to help!

intel mobo and two 8800gt,s

I did,,,,,intel mobo and two 8800gt,s...

Please spare me from reading 5 pages of stuff. lol. Will this work with X38 and 8800GT's?

any update on the subject?
Dan have you tried it and it`s not functional?

no its just that they hit a wall and havent made any progress for a while. have hope and they might get somewhere.

I remember there was a modder who successfully ran two 7600 GT cards on a i975X. That's a long time now. Google turns up empty to that search now :(
Implies it's possible, only that you have to fool Forceware that there's an NForce SLI installed. Logic says SLI could run on a Skulltrail even without those NForce 200 bridges, but NVidia made sure they could make money out of the D5400XS, and also tell the world that for SLI you need NForce. Had they not used NForce 200 and just let Intel use SLI on the 5400b northbridge, it could spread the message that you really don't need NForce to run SLI and that it's just a matter of messing with the drivers to make it work on any chipset.

Of course I haven't, if it works every hardware site would mention it.

Besides, if it was anyway near easy someone else would have done it already. Nothing against Solaris, but I don't see him as the one doing the job.
Which of course doesn't mean I don't want him to try, I of course don't mind it if he somehow manages to do it.

@bta, read the thread, everyone is aware of that.
