Modded SLI Forceware

How's a Mac Pro 8800GT SLI under Vista 64bit sound?

Hi Solaris17

Well, as the title says, I've got an 8 core Xeon (3.0 GHz) Mac Pro sitting here with 2 x Apple OEM 8800GT's inside, (connected with an Asus bridge cable).

You'll have to forgive me as I don't really know my way around windows at all... I tend to spend my time on Ubuntu and Leopard.

So, I installed 177.26 from the ftp server as mentioned on your first page here.
Had to learn how to force install the drivers, and only GeForceGTX 260 or 280 were presented as options... Is this right?
GPU-Z thinks I have 2 GeForce GTX 260's installed, but not the Nvidia control panel, it's still saying 8800GT's.

Anyway I couldn't see any mention of SLI appear in the 3D settings like what you have up so I'm guessing it's not working?

oh, both cards work fine when I boot into OSX 10.5.4 (latest OS) so everything seems fine in the sense of "working".

Using ZPUz.exe the Mac pro details are:
Chipset: 5400B (rev C0)
Southbridge: 6321ESB

GPU-Z reports 2 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 with SLI Disabled. (boo)

Anyway, would luv to get this power hungry beast cranking with SLI, so anything I can do to help...

Cheers,

R.

I can test on an ASUS Rampage Formula with 2 7600GT's.

OS is Windows XP 32-bit and possibly even Fedora 8.

I am also interested in those old modded 87.25 drivers.

I can also provide HTTP hosting for your drivers (approx. 90MBit/month)
Your FTP server doesn't seem to work though.

They stopped working on this project a few months back. Sol and Blue decided it was too time consuming and it was getting harder and harder with the new superdrivers nVidia has been releasing lately.

Oh. How about the 87.25 drivers then? Are they still available?

I'm sure you could find them if you googled hard enough for them.

Anyone with XP x32 want to give these a try for old times sake?

That's what I want to know. I need a bridge tho, so I can try to test these 8800GT's in SLI.

maybe i cant test it. i took the modded XP x32 drivers from way back and modded the ini to support the new cards so in theory it should absoluitely work...but i cant find those drivers for anything but XP x32 so im out of ideas for right now...also if someone tests it and it doesnt work DL this patch and try again.

you can enable sli with no bridge ;) all the bridge does is enable direct card communication without the bridge the cards talk via pci-e bus though a little slower it only shaves off a few points.

but the older drivers dont support the new gtx cards do they?

any chance you can get this to work with the 180.xx drivers? :D

no i tried and got close (detection of sli capable systems with intel and ati chipsets) but it wouldnt enable they make the drivers totally diffirent now. i prolly wont give up but this project is on the side for now until i can afford more ciggs.
