just use a temperature monitoring program like coretemp:
http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

This will tell you how hot you running.
if you have any issues, just post back with the temps etc and im sure someone here will be able to help you out.

Also, I can strongly reccommend getting Artic Silver 5 thermal paste to go along with your heatsink... it will lower the temps by up to 5c less than the normal paste that ships with the cooler

coretemp wont work on an intel older than the C2D ones the old P4s didnt have a on die temp monitor you will have to use something like speedfan

aaah was wondering about that, always used to use speedfan, till i got my quad... then all of a sudden learned that coretemp was the one to use as speedtemp diddnt get them near right
