Despite not being backed by an official statement, NVIDIA's next-generation crypto-mining Turing graphics cards are expected to be revealed at GTC 2018 between March 26 to 29. According to DigiTimes's latest report, NVIDIA is expecting a drop in demand for graphics card later this year. In an effort to prolong the lifecycle of their current graphics cards, mass production for Turing won't start until the third quarter of 2018. Sources around the industry have also revealed that NVIDIA had a sit-down with AIB partners to address the current situation. In short, NVIDIA partners are now forbidden to promote activities related to cryptocurrency mining and to sell bulks of consumer graphics cards to cryptominers.

well  better late than never - I mean if cryptos do expierience like +150% value rise (from today) then we will have problems with miners also in 2018 Q4. if cryptos keep falling or even stays at todays value - trust me Q3 will be flooded with "broken hopes and dreams" GPU's

So is the goal to sell less cards? Seems like a dumb goal.

uhm - no, the point of this most likely to use dies that have failed the first QA as fullblown gaming cards but will work just fine as minig cards at lower frequencies. simple PCBs and no licensing for output modules probably mean they can keep a hefty margin of income on the dedicated cards, thus its a win/win/win for gamers, miners and nvidia.

Miners will buy the cheaper dedicated cards and gamers can access the gamer cards again thus stopping the inflation. Meanwhile nvidia will get more cards out of their dies and in the end making more money.

Or so the theory is. Whether it will work or not.. only time will tell

So the next level AI/deep learning card? Cool.

...
I'll help at the risk of biting into the sarcasm. He de-cryped encrypted nazi messages during WWII by solving the nazi crypt machine they used to translate those messeges.

(not sure why quote/reply refused to put the quote here, had to do it manually)

This must be related to GPP.

What is Mr Turing famous for, do you know?
That's your answer
"Alan Mathison Turing OBE FRS was an English computer scientist, mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher, and theoretical biologist."

Thats all I would need to assume they chose the name.

I think the goal is to still have a GPU market when mining cools off.

Wouldnt it be nice to mine and game at the same time???

Not less I expect , just with warranties and profits in the right places, for nvidia.

I think after their last mining card release and its crazy prices and wtf warranty ,not enticing miners into buying them, until only those were left, they could be putting more effort in ie use the worst shader array bin gpus specially configured for mining instead of regular stuff with bits removed ,they just need to get the price right and they win but either way they win as the chip bins called a bin for a reason, this could use stock that few other use cases would have, we'll see i suppose .

Anyone else now thinking this exact asic could be turing, it seams odd that turing got rumoured up to death, now rumoured Q3 just as these deliberately made for mining cards turn up, they are not shy of naming a segmant after all are they ie Quadro,Titan, Geforce ,,Turing.

makes more sense then buying a farm of these only for nvidia to piss on my chips in Q3 with an jeffin super miner card.

That is most likely. However, my way takes way less effort.

I'm not saying you or anyone is right or wrong, probably is a mining card since that is all the rage these days. I think though that if I were dedicating my life to something in the AI field and I show up to NVidia GTC on AI and Deep Learning Conference to gain valuable insight relevant to my field, and people started banging on about bit coin and etherium, I'd be piss.

Jensen: "Thank you for attending and I hope you are all enjoying the presentations from some of the greatest minds in the field of AI and deep learning, but... lets take a break from that so I can introduce a GPU that no one in this room will give a shit about..."

If its a crypto card, that just seems to be an announcement more appropriate for GDC which is mar 19-23, not GTC... since after all, this card is supposedly being made to show gamers some love.

Maybe this is only for lesser tesla skus, like successors to P4.

But seriously now, they'll be claming 1.8x boost over previous generation for decrypting enigma codes in wolfenstein 2 when using nvidia turing GPUs.

if it is not 7nm don't even bother releasing it. 12nm is old.

Surely the problem wasn't not having enough dedicated mining cards, but rather not being able to supply enough for the demand of both gamers and miners, it doesn't matter how many mining cards they come out with when the stocks have gone the miners will move on to GPU's. Unless of course AMD or Nvidia have opened a new fab to meet increased demand that no one has heard anything about?

So this is the third time this rumor has been flipped? Less than a month? Only believing official statements at this point.

Eating an apple laced with cyanide for being renounced and charged as a homosexual, despite his pivotal role in developing the basic maths of the enigma machine.

so my next GPU will render cyanide apples.

Forbidden to sell...... lol what a shit comment. Might as well tell the sun not to shine, water not to be wet, and cold not to be so cold.

Nvidia is after sales and money.
