Well I just got Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls IV on steam for 8.50 and am wondering what are the best mods for it? Texture packs and such. Lemme know!

Here is the "Crazy" list.

Male Body Replacer by Robert
HGEC Eye candy body
CM partners *its needed for most extra companion mods nothing more badass then a personal army lol*
Qarls Texture Pack 3 redemized *its a smaller file size helps out and its easier on system but quality is essentially the same meaning its win win.
Oblivion mod manager
Oblivion script extender its required for most decent mods to actually work OMM above will hook into it to let you start the game manage mods etc.
Enhanced Water
Unique landscapes
Weather All Natural
Martigens Monster mod *adds a shit ton of new creatures and enemies
Oblivion Graphics extender *image to show why on the left is all effects turned on middle is some right is the vanilla games rendering engine*

thats all i got for now, all of these can be found on tes nexus, make sure to read the readmes and shit some of these mods you might have to jump through a few hoops for but there worth it, everything else you need is personal taste items such as armor and weapons etc.

Haha, just got it installed (with a bunch of mods) and was about to finish the Kvatch portal (I'm literally in the same room it is) and *boom* power outage. It runs perfectly except that I can't exit the inventory/etc. without freezing the game.

Wonder what the mechanism behind that is.

EDIT:
Fuck, just as I thought it's not a problem with Oblivion, but with a (likely corrupted) mod. *sigh* This'll take forever.

uh give me a bit Mailman and ill send you a list of mods to look up on Tesnexus, i got 150-200 mods installed but you dont really need that many, eitherway ill send you a list of the most important ones to make Oblivion look better and play better it just has to wait till tomorrow till then im sure others can fill in for the majority of what you need should they beat me to the punch.

if you want i can also edit the Ini file for you as i did New Vegas to help with performance.

Before gettin the mods, i would recommend you to get first teh following:
Oblivion Mod Manager
Wrye Bash

For the mods:
Graphics:
Quarl's Texture Pack (with LoD enchancement)
Natural Environments
OBGE packs (God rays, in game SSAO, custom post processing shaders) - this mod might sacrifice AA capability tho...
Hi res vegetation textures
Darnified UI (Dark or regular)

and some water and weather enchancing mods that i forgot the name...

Gameplay:
Unnecesary Violence
Deadly Reflex
Custom combat and animation moves (for those who plays in 3rd person)
Martigen's Monster Mod
No Psychic guards (avoids guards psychicly knowing you mauled someone on secluded areas)

Take a look through TES NEXUS.
I use very little in the way of mods for TESIV since it would take too much away from what the game is supposed to be like.
I just used better texture mod for skin, hair pack, facegen importer and some armour which I would mod to give them some special ability but nothing way over what is in the game.
Some weapons which I also modded myself by adding special enchantments.

Never chose any mods which needed extra script add-ons or anything of that nature.

Here's an example of my modded character.

rolling my eyes so hard. is everything on that fucking site anime perv bait shit or what.

also No Psychic guards is a must. trying to get away with murder is an annoying chore without it.

Watchout you may get eye strain from rolling your eyes so hard ;)

Yes there is some anime orientated material there which is too much for some.
If it's not your thing the resolution is pretty simple.

Do not DL it.

I have seen some weird sledge hammer made out of a woman's torso with the pole going through the privates and out the neck. :/
If you are not into that kind of thing it is easy to remove it from the CC with the Oblivion construction set if you like the rest of the CC within the package.

TESNEXUS caters for everyone not just the PC which makes it the most diverse of all the Oblivion CC sites.

Lookin forward to it. I just want to play it as pretty as possible.

Hey guys can you share that info in here? I bought it years ago and 1 of the addons that i've never even opened. I'd like to play through it before skyrim. It was the very reason I upgraded from a 7800gs to a 8800GTS G92. I liked it but it was just way to hard to levelup... I hear you can levelup easier with mods. Thanks

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul is an essential!
The lost spires adds an archeology guild and quest chain
I had a naked mod LOL
Cheydehal pet shop
quest for the elments
some UI mods

This is what I got. Haven't really bothered with UI mods though.

Then there's also Nehrim, a "total conversion" mod.

Will do. Crazyeyes is a ninja when it comes to the Gamebryo engine. When he posts the list it will be gold.

Edit: As a matter of fact Ill list all the mods in the first post.

sent Mailman a quickie pm for a few mods to help boost overall graphical fidelity,

I dont really like the overhaul mods personally they tend to break or conflict with alot of mods and while i like mailman im seriously not in the mood for editing entries in the construction set to make things compatible, lol

I got it through steam for cheap (played it when it first came out) and will also be looking at gfx modding for it. No interest in anything other than making it look good. If you post Crazy's list that would be cool Mailman. And thanks to Crazy for helping Mailman.

First post updated with the "Crazy" list.

ill add more mods later to the list, just really strapped for time, just gotta outta work time to clean up then head out and pick up the Steak chicken hamburg hotdogs some fuel and of course some drinks for a hot day :toast:

should also mention you will want armor replacer and clothing replacers for both HGEC and Roberts mesh that way any time you see arms legs hands etc with armor or clothing they look better its a nit picking kinda situation but id recommend that as well.

One of the best mods to get will be the "No Psychic Guards" mod. Makes the game so much more enjoyable.

really? one of my favorite things to do in oblivion is to kill someone right in front of a guard and then get to fight all of them at once. Peopla running and screaming, guards dying, plot characters keeling over and then reviving so you can beat them down again, ah good times.

I love doin that as well!!!! RAMPAGE!!!
