Petiton: the reformation of the moderator system and new moderators

K mods cannot devote themselves to TPU... only W1z. Thats why you think this pancho... if you are willing to be on the forums alot, and are kind and compassionate and are as clever as a supreme court justice, then you might be a good mod.

hell i qualify for that. been admin/co-admin on loads of forums before. eh but i wont get picked, and so yeah, but for mods that are in the army and stuff, we can get new mods you know, thats the whole point of this

Agreed, and here are some suggestions:

1./ Moderators should be "discouraged" from over-posting in their chat participation of threads. Moderators should be there to moderate only, fairly, and if anything, ADD by constructive comment or useful research (as in "expert"). Moderators "over posting" should be reprimanded. Moderators are TPU diplomats, not gastapo.

2./ Point 1. does NOT prohibit from a PERSON who is a moderator, ALSO having a "user" login for their regular forum participation. But there needs to be a chinese wall between 1 and 2.

3./ Forum rules need updating. Its a 2-way thing. What a member can do / cannot do, and when they can be expected to get moderatored, and what "kind of moderation" they can expect, EQUALLY, moderator guidelines should be posted.

TPU is great. But it WAS better. By it's very popularity, it has gotten diluted and needs some re-fertilization.

Agreed..could not have said it better than myself. TPU is great, but it could be better.

Well,..this has gotten "LOCKED THREAD" written all over it.
I thought that this was SIMPLY to put mods in the forums they wanted to moderate as well as,...remove the mods that DID NOT want to be moderate anymore. What the hell is all the ruckus about??Am I not reading the post correctly?Is this just malice in disguise?
My vote was to help willing people take vacant spots in our community.

please realize that your post really doesn't connect to the petition, its about reforming the mod system. im probably never going to become a mod so idk why you guys are busy bashing me rather then trying to make tpu better by agreeing or disagreeing with the petition.

I think TPU is pretty good as it is. If any real shit kicks off, it usually gets sorted out fairly sharpish

I suppose on rare occasions it would be nice to have an extra few active mods about

while some agree that age=wisdom, it doesn't always have to be true. zek imho is the best mod on this forum (followed by thermo) and hes under 25 so yeah.

I agree, since more mods could never be a disadvantage.

But I disagree with there being a distinct line between being a user and a mod. Mods arent robots, they're people, and Im pretty sure they arnt stupid enough to not act accordingly.
I honestly think some of you guys take mods for granted.

But yeah, more mods would be awesome. I always see Thermo doing a great job with his wicked mod powerz, but it would be good to see him get a break from covering all the threads he does lol

If you want to be man enough to start the idea(petition) , now is not the time to think about repercussions, those should have been thought about when the idea was brought to the table!

just reread his post, honestly, the teen club was started by me and pos just to see how many other teens where on tpu. erase the posts of all of us teens and zek, and then see whats left of this forum.

There aren't any current moderators that are over 25. I think that age limit would be difficult to enact. It would require removal of all current moderators, and the research and acquisition of an entire new staff. Inevitable turmoil would result during this phase with no moderators to aid in the training and structuring of new staff.

Pancho you pi** me off too much to be a mod! J/k, I love ya tough guy. I don't think it's a really big deal anyways, anytime that I've seen a problem, thermo, solaris, zek, dan and wazzle, seem to clear it up pretty quickly. I would be a perfect mod. I work for laywers, plus I co-manage a large auto shop that has hot-tempered teens like many of you working there. Wouldn't really want to do it though. Mabye.

I gotta say I think thermo tends to be the most active 'mod' - at least, the vast majority of his posts seem only to be mod warnings

not to say that there aren't other mods that are active . . .

still, it seems to me that there are already enough mods to go around, as things get sniped pretty quick when debates start turning into arguments

if a mod wants to step out of that position, it should be filled - otherwise, I still see no need to add any more
