Preorders for nVIDIA GTX 1080TI

Found this on nVIDIA's website for the 1080TI:

GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards, including the NVIDIA Founders Edition, will be available worldwide — across 238 countries and territories — from NVIDIA GeForce partners, including ASUS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, iGame, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac, starting March 10th at 10am. Prices, including those for the NVIDIA Founders Edition, start at $699. Pre-orders on the NVIDIA webstore begin March 2nd at 8am PT.

So it seems that non reference designed cards will be available on March 10th next week and will cost roughly the same as the Founders Edition card.

cant wait for this I am still deciding to rather to get the ti or a normal 1080, if the ti sells out quick I go with the normal 1080. I got my eye on amazon now but I am not sure if they do the pre orders or not.

meh .... if it was real that i could have a 1080Ti just 100$ more than what i paid for a 1070 ... that would almost be interesting ...

and also if the 1080 would be 499$ ... but noooo in these price range = 1070 where i live ... 1080 are above 700 to 900$ and the Ti will be around 1200 ... talk about clusterf*ck situation

ohhhh at the price of a 1080 (actual pricing) oh wait actually a little cheaper than a 1080 ... wtf is that wizardry ... oh well at last it's more expensive than my 1070...

freaking tax and country tied situation... all i get is "you have better life level and income than most" when i complain about overpricing... not all Swiss sleep on a banknote filled mattress and earn 5 time a average European salary, some are even poorer than those who live in magical countries where a 1080 will get at 499$ price level

bottom line, aherm ... with the internet ... we can see how much ripped off we are ... and in my case most of the time hardware wise : A SH!TONS! (569$ is the price of my 1070 when i got it, lucky me i didn't pay for it ... otherwise i would call that a "blatant thievery" )

the normal 1080 will be a major upgrade from my 960 but now with the rift price cut I want that to now. that was the whole point for me to upgrade was for VR.

£700 here in the UK for the base model. I was also looking at AMD Ryzen kit and was put off by the over inflated prices.

ikr ... well my "future" (which can mean once in stock ooorrrr waaayyy later ) CPU budget was "up to" a 7700K price... soooo if i take Ryzen in account (Swiss pricing again :cry:

) the sale of my mobo + 6600K ... i think i can still manage ... since the 1700 is on 6700K level price ...

the question is : "IPC" because if the performance up or down margin is less than 10% i rather take 8C/16T than 4C/8T ... even if 4C/4T is enough for what i need atm ...

I'm going to stick with my 8 core Xeon till prices come down on the latest gear. I can afford it but I just think the prices are scandalous.
Then again I can buy a 6 core E5 1650 and overclock it to hell and beyond.
I don't game but the 1080 Ti looks impressive, except for the price. Many are complaining that the USA versions are $100+ cheaper than what the Europeans pay.
From what I've seen we pay a heck of a lot more than our American cousins.

and Swiss quite a bit more than the rest of Europe (not all tho)... for what i mentioned above ... i am just at the poverty threshold going by my income standard :laugh:

most of my gear are either 2nd hands, "monthly payment" or ultra slashed prices promotion, aka: "a 1080 would've left me with only 101$ for 4 weeks if i decided to buy one full price and no "arrangement" ... my 1070, if it wasn't a insurance refund, would have left me with 231$ ... well still better than 101$ .... but well :laugh:

Well it appears the 1080 Ti will be $699 (£568.76) in the U.S.....And £699 in the UK. And I'll bet the £699 model will be the base model.
Hell knows what the price will be for the high end models. £800 to £1000 is my guess. The mark up is a rip off IMO.

caseking.de has the evga 1080 for 519 euro!!!!

And in Germany, 819,00 EUR is the official price for the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition.
Less that in Spain. Who said prices adapt to "income level"? No way! Of course 'luxery goods VAT' is 19% in Germany and 21% in Spain.

If I am not mistaken the American prices don't include VAT.

Yes, they do have to pay tax. But since every state has its own tax rate, the prices exclude VAT afaik.

So when someone in the USA buys something, when and how does (s)he pay the (VAT or whatever it is called) tax?

Or when buying from Amazon or Bestbutt etc Do you get a specific tax added (during the transaction) depending on your (fiscal) location? I don't remember anyone (USA'er) here saying, "Wait! On top of the announced price I pay that much more!"

So is it tax heaven or not? If not, where does all the massive money for your Military, NASA come from? Indirect taxes? Income taxes? No State survives without taxes, for sure.
