I can imagine the headache of upgrading a forum of this size. What's your db size?

db isn't the problem, i think it's 30 gigs or so. xf 2, once released will need all addons to be remade due to a different addon structure, this will take time in addition that we all have to wait for the public release first

I can imagine all the things that are gonna break when this happens, even with porting and testing. It's just the way of these things.

Would it be worth running a shadow TPU for testing and having just a handful of users log in to try and break it?

You can also use the reading mode and turn everything white on black. We all know that. This thread is about official web sire endorsement of a dark theme (that will look pretty much the same on all browsers and devices).
