On the other hand if this contest is for the existing members of TPU I think there should be at least something like a minimum post count before the beginning of the contest or, possibly if you joined after the contest was announced you are not eligible? I don't know maybe I'm crazy but I have talked to a few people about this and they agree with me. To me, it seems kinda weird that this part of the rules are so lose. Thanks for reading at least. I hope you don't take this post as me being snobbish.

In my opinion, I think it's fine that people just sign up here for this. The more people that come to TPU the better and if this is the catalyst to do it, so be it.

I agree. Something brings all of us here. Why not this? Chances are new members will gain and contribute more than whats going on with this contest.

I agree and since I see how many have entered the previous ones that are limited to TPU members since such and such date... unless it's a straight giveaway post your name thing we don't get very many posts...

I can't enter... I'm not crying but I'm excited to see what gets posted and I would be lying if I said I didn't hope to see one of our very own win but you know what? the winner may end up not being a member since last year or whenever however the chances are he will be along with possibly many more... so a larger turn out should bring us more contests and give aways... hint hint

Heh, tro_avionic's entries (1,2) are pasted on a photo of a HD4870, and not a HD4890 one would expect to see.
Now, if the competition just was about reskinning a Geforce...

You are right. Picture provided in the official thread is HD4870, not HD4890 :twitch:

Anyway, that doesn't make a big difference because cooler has the same shape and length on both cards, only PCB is different (and elements soldered to it).

So let me get this right, we are designing for ourselves, in other words,

If we could, what we would like the deisgn to be? Not what we think would make a cool design to sell?

And can we use pics owned by TPU/AMD/HIS or do they have to be our own?

I seriously think that theres no ned to discuss the rules of the contest... Who ever posted the contest had their reasons for doing it, and its their call who gets to enter the contest or not..
HIS had their reasons, TPU had their reasons and we have out reasons to participate or not...

Nevertheless it seems oddly funny that the first three posters have just joinedTPU

Hi, my first post, I been a long time reader check site each day, check forums sometimes and finally decided to sign up due to this competition. I wanted to ask as I only have one post but if i come up with a excellent design would I have a less chance of winning then someone who made lots of posts? Please answer this as I really want to make a nice design but if there no chance of me winning them might aswell not do it.

you only need to be a member here at the forums. joining just to participate in the contest is fine as well.

you do that, we catch you and delete all your designs. maybe we will tell you you won and then say "oops, sorry". you should spend time on refining 3 designs to make sure one of them wins instead of making 6 average designs
