You're not allowed to use copyrighted materials in your image, but you're allowed use free images on the net providing it's not a third party logo or image, so no crossfire logos or any others except the 3 logos provided. You can use free images if you want, but the chances are most of the CGI/Game pictures are copyrighted or not free...

guys if you are using an image from somewhere make sure there are no copyrights FIRST before you use it, for instance I emailed the guy that make an image I'm using and he gave me permission, the email is ready to be forwarded as evidence

Stolen from mine (size slightly adjusted), you can see even the background of my image through the inside of some of the letters and around them.

Just my 2 cents, but I don't think it's really fair that people from other forums are coming here just for this, most of the entries are from new members with almost no posts who are just using TPU or stealing ideas/designs from other members. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for new members, but they will most likely just sod off if they win. I've seen it happen before on the N-Gage forum when Nokia was giving away 30 Nseries phones at the end of 2007 and again when they were giving away 4 phones in September, about 15 of the winners just fucked off and probably sold them on the eBay, there was a lot of multiple accounts too. You see a surge of new members trying desperately to get something then disappear after the competition.

I'm +1 on this... but if ppl are going to cheat and/or do similar things there is really nothing you can do to stop it, there will always be a way... Even if this was a members only forum.... whats, for an example, is stopping me to get together with two, three of my friends that are also members and use their accounts... The options are limitless

Buttttt, some people like me at just lurkers, like me , used this site since 2006, and always read the news posts, just never registered until 2007 (and have minimal posts as of now)

On the other hand, I agree with you, the contest should only be avaliable to people who have been members for a certain amount of time before the competition started.

Agreed.

Some pretty good submissions are posted, although many are too flashy which makes them ugly.

My favorite by now is shadowfold's design:

Some good smudgeing and visually the best design by now IMO. "Radeon HD4890" font could be different, this one is not exactly theme-matching. Although I'd advise you to remove red glow below the TPU! logo, because NONE modifications to the logo are allowed (except if W1zzard explicitely permits).

The question: May I alter the colors and hues of the existing logo sets i.e. Change the techpowerup logo from black and red to let's say black and blue?
