WOW! That's one of those rare ones! Too bad you didn't catch that one video..
It happened a long time ago ... way back in 2007 I believe. But it taught me a valuable lesson, which changed my way of seeing & valuing hardware forever. Thing is, I only bought Thermaltake because it looked cool. And also because it came with flashy LEDs, and had a colorful retail packaging. In other words, it was a terrible cooler, designed to appeal and NOT to keep the temps under control.

But after the Orb disaster I went out & bought Cooler Master Hyper TX3, tower design cooler which I still have and use today. And even if it fails one day, I can always just replace the fan, keeping it in service indefinitely. I'm actually trying to find pic of that Blue Orb cooler, but can't seem to find anything. Give me 5 mins...

Edit
Not quite the photo I was hoping to find, but still better than nothing:

Does anyone on here still use or own a CRT Monitor o_OI was just wondering as i don,t recolect anyone showing one in there latest systemso_O

They probably had few similar cards on the market, with only few differences between the models & various editions. What made this one "special" was the ViVo feature (Video In - Video Out). That being said, I never even tried it out, and the whole feature felt kinda redundant IMO. I just wanted something to keep that could run FlatOut & Half-Life 2. Check out my ORIGINAL POST from way back in 2015 for more info...

Edit
Another Post from 2015

I once had a three year old Thermaltake Blue Orb FX cooler which (for some, unknown reason) decided to stop cooling & overheated to the point of melting the plastic fan assembly. So by the time I realized what is going on & pulled the plug from the power supply, the entire room had that awful melted plastic stench.
Wow thats nasty, the smell of burnt plastic yuko_O

Yes, I have a Dell 17" Trinitron CRT monitor, but it sits on a shelf in the basement. It takes up too much space on the bench to really use it anymore (I should just take it to recycle). I have two old LCD monitors that I use on the bench, an HP 21" 1600x900 & a Viewsonic 19" 1280x1024. Both monitors have a VGA and DVI input. I'm currently using the HP 1600x900 overclocked from 60Hz to 75Hz.

I thought someone would have one on here.Plus the fact they cost a lot to use one ,because they use so much electricaty. o_O
. how can i pck up PC,s ftom E Waste place?Or is it just a case of picking them up when they are thrown outo_O What do you think about my two old new stock falling to work.:( The PC Chips did not do a thing.o_O I was hopefill for the ECS to work error E1. E0, and the bleeper not bleeping when no Ram.I gather the E codes mean problems with not being able to boot.

I used to work (with property management companies) in office buildings that had e-waste bins in the basement. Two to four times a year the building management would call a recycler to pick up what had collected. I would go through the bins as tenants added hardware & see if there was anything worth keeping. The company I worked for paid the recycler to empty the bins based on weight, so what I took home saved my company money. Tenants also sometimes left hardware in their suites when they moved out. I would see if it was a keeper or for the recycle bin. lol

Capacitors have a shelf life. They can fail without leaking or exploding, just from sitting too long without power being applied to them.

I bet you found some interesting things over the time you worked there. :) Did you you find any good items when you were there.o_OI don,t find much in the area i live though:(I have been watching him for some years now, he tells it is.:) And explains everything
the proper way to do things,:) It is all here in this artecal https://www.thewindowsclub.com › this-computers-hardware-may-not-support-booting-to-this-disk

On another subject i just got my PS2 working with the PS2 to HDMI I mist admit i am not impressed, there is a flickering on the picture.:(You can,t see it on the photo. The PS2 to Hdmi does not seem to fit in the connection very well o_O At least it is all working.:)It would me better having a bit of a lead on it ,rather then it going straight in to the PS2..This is what i mean .The prices are out of this would that one is £36 of the better ones.I mean this one the Pound cabal is £80 You would have to money to burno_O.
. The Bit Funexc looks a good unit but i see you can only get it on Ali Express that would come out at around £30 after postage and Tax ,es.

Ever wanted to run Windows 3.11 from within Windows 95, 98 and/or Millennium?

Well now you can! This guy found a hidden feature, leftover from the early days of testing Win95...

I'll definitely look into it.
Back in the day I used LILO (Linux Loader) to chain Windows boot loaders.
I usually had Slackware + Windows XP + Windows 98.

Really, I find it ironic how we "evolved" from simple graphics card such as S3, ATI Mach64, Rage & Matrox Mystique with passive cooling (or no cooling at all) to power hungry monstrosities that we have & use nowdays.

Because I clearly remember how people used to say back in day, that in the future computer components will use LESS power, generate LESS heat, and take LESS space than the older ones. Yeah, riiiight!

Edit
By the way, I know that someone in here will sooner or later point out how the older hardware was nowhere near the specs of the current gen one, and that the current hardware is a lot more energy efficient when compared through power draw vs the generated heat equation. But that is beside the point ... at this point in time, you'd expect to have supreme graphics without any heat being generated, or barely any power being drawn. IMHO, we seem to be going in the wrong direction.

Technology has its limits. Sometimes you get to drive some sleek cars sometimes you drive muscle cars. Evolution is not something that can be taken for granted.

Anyway I would love to be able to own a 4090 Ti air cooled QUAD slot card no matter what others would say. :D Why? Well, just kicks or for being a retrogrouch. :D I mean who would need water cooling in 2023?!?!!? :D

Forks? What about the knives and spoons? Are we leaving them out? That's very discriminatory. :slap:;)

BTW, Welcome to TPU!
Knives are members of Jagged Alliance, and thus too sharp minded folks to be joining the forum. Spoons on the other hand are perfectly fine :)

I wholeheartedly agree if it isn't using the same or less power than the previous gen and getting better performance then there's something wrong infact if it keeps going the way it is in 10 years we'll see low end using 350W of power and the high end will be 1000W or more

Right, my point exactly. In 10 years from now the way things are heading you will need a power supply that's capable of (at least) 2000W. Frankly, I don't see how this is considered evolution or an upgrade. Just for the sake of comparison, my Pentium II from 1998 had a 200W power supply with plenty of room for optional upgrades, such as the CD-RW drive or additional hard drive.

Who in there right mind would pay that price for that. o_O
Easy. A true, die-hard fan would. That being said, I'm not one of them, but I /would/ pay for the shuttle craft from TNG, Voyager or Deep Space 9. That is, if I'd have that much money to burn.

Easy. A true, die-hard fan would. That being said, I'm not one of them, but I /would/ pay for the shuttle craft from TNG, Voyager or Deep Space 9. That is, if I'd have that much money to burn.
Thats the point money to burn. o_OI just loked it up Cold Lazarus is a four-part British television drama written by Dennis Potter with the knowledge that he was dying of pancreatic cancer.

Regards using an Sd drive with an ide adapter has anyone had any succes getting an OS on it? o_O I would like to get it working.o_O

I actually had P4 @1.4GHz back in the early 2000s. Socket 423, which I unfortunately sold & moved on to Athlon64 & Socket 754.

On a side note, I actually managed to find yet another P4 @1.4GHz ... this time however Socket 478. It is currently paired with Asus P4B motherboard & running Windows Millennium :)
