Just picked up a 9800gt 55nm 1gb card and would like a nice cooler too get a lil more out of it.

So far i can clock it up to 775, but after a few mins on load it crashes. 720 stable.

It came with one of those omg how terrible single slot vent in the case type heaters. But if it clocks this well on this cooler im dying to see what some good air would do..

Well it also shows your promptness about paying off an item, and communications. Either way, I'm really not truly concerned about it.

As far as COD, I've only done it once.

i have a zalman vf700 copper.

it may not be officially listed for the 9800gt. but i used it on my 8800gt for as long as i had that 8800gt. i was able to overclock well beyond what the factory hsf could. i cant remember exact speeds i got tho.

i have the heatsink, all mounting hardware and can throw in new ramsinks too.

i think $20 with free shipping would be a fair price. the egg has it for $22 with $8 shipping

VF-900 is compatible as long as you have a reference design 9800gt with extra VRAM.

What model is your 9800gt?

Example brand and edition. EVGA, Zotac, Palit, XFX etc. Then SC, SSC, XXX, Sonic, Extreme, OC, or regular etc.

Or a link to which one you bought will do great too. ;)

I believe the PNY is reference design. I have a "stock" Palit cooler from a 9600gt that should fit that I don't need. It is the one shown here.

I wouldn't want much for it, so PM me with an offer if you're interested.

heat = theJesus
ebay = theJesus_YHWH

Thanks for the reply jesus.

Im not sure how "reference" this board is....havent found a volt mod that works besides the bios 1.1 mod. However the bios utility does say it is a "normal board" when i flash it.

Im not the scared type, ive flash it like 10 times.

That cooler i think would work though. My question is..my memory on this card comes cooled. Im not sure if theese chips are over volted and i wonder if they will burn if i leave them naked.

Hrm, I would say you could get some ram-sinks, but there would probably be a clearance issue. The fins are spaced wide though, so depending on the ram-sinks, you might be able to "inter-lock" the fins. Or you could put some pennies on 'em with thermal tape.

In any case, the cooler is designer to have lot's of air flowing directly over the ram, so I don't think it should cause a problem. If you wanna be safe, I would just put a penny on each one with some thermal tape. And if the pennies come into contact with the fins on the cooler, then that will help even more I would think.

Ok, I just looked around and I think these would be good and easy to interlock with the fins:

Or these ones might actually fit under the fins as they're only 2.54mm tall:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=43&products_id=635

These might be worth considering as well:
