My Samsung 850 Pro is dead.
I suddenly crashed when trying to load another map on BF4, had to reset the PC, i then loaded back into Windows and my SSD is no longer recognised. R.I.P

And well HD utilities say my Seagate HDD is on the blink and close to end of life LOL.

I have a weird feeling it has to do with controller thermals. There has to be some reason they introduced "dynamic thermal throttling" on their 950 series.

The 850 Pro and 950 Pro are two completely different things though. One is a standard SATA drive, while the other is M.2 and MUCH faster/different controller....(MHX and UBX IIRC).

Granted. But I still feel adding the dynamic thermal throttling to the new controller may have been influenced from past overheating of MHX's. Just a theory, but not an implausible one.

Never heard of the past overheating on that controller... or, any SSD in a 'case' (read: not an m.2 NVMe drive) for that matter.

disconnect sata cable from ssd for 30 secs. connect it again. try if it works. repeat 4-5 times then call it dead

Plug it back in, only this time boot using a Live Boot CD like Parted Magic. I've resurrected supposedly dead drives by booting a disk, wiping the drive with Secure Erase and recreating the GPT.
