See, I have tried 1.6 and I cant get over the 3.1 hump. Maybe I should lower my multiplier like you did.

No the AM2 chips are topped out at about 3.1ghz with the exception of a very few FX62 chips on water and phase coolers that can hit 3.2 to 3.3ghz and the 6000+ chips that can do 3.4ghz to 3.5ghz on air and on water and phase coolers as high as 3.6ghz. Mine would have for sure, because it would boot at almost 3.6ghz on air. Also that triforce motherboard is a super good overclocker but my board was unreal all the test sites use it for AM2 testing. For some reason it sucks with Intel but not AM2. Shoot that motherboard would let my ram run at DDR 1180 and overclock my PCI express 16 slots from 90mghz to 150 mghz stable it was a beast.

Yeah, I am thinking that it's my board that doesn't like the higher FSB, just tried and got 2.9@ 1.55V and it was unstable. I can get that at 1.45 with the 9.5.

psh science marks for wussies, just kidding, never dled it and ran it thats why i'm not in there. but why the fx? it's 30$ more than the 6000 and clocks worse. I will admit that all the fx lines hold their value much better (which will help if you want to change to a phenom later) but still.

Well the FX-62 I has a better memory controller I believe. I want something rock solid and isn't going to quit on me. Another reason I think the FX-62 is better because it's a higher class chip...better bins possibly.

No Fx62 doesn't , really it doesn't. Your making a mistake here. The 6000+ was orginally supposed to be the last and fastest AM2 chip made and is the highest bined chip made. The FX2 is really a 5600x2 with unlock multipliers the 6000+ is a totally different bined chip and is physically slightly different from the other AM2 and Opteron chips. It runs with more wattage and can take higher thermal levels.

I'm not talking about a FX62 I'm talking about a 6000+ I'm not seeing it hit 3.5ghz 3.2 I see but not 3.5 and it appears thats on water not air a 6000+ on water or a phase will hit 3.6ghz or higher. Still it is a good chip but not much faster than my old Brisbane 3600x2. It would be a good alternative to a Fx62 at that price but many of the Brisbane reach those speeds or near those anyway.

If you think it's a good choice go with it but it not a better class chip the 6000+ was supposed to be the last great AM2 chip and when the phenom had it launch release date moved back they are upping the binning on the 6000+ and 6400+ making them use only 89w, like a FX62, but with alot better binning resulting in another version of the 6000+ and a even faster 6400+ chip that will run even cooler than the current 6000+ and oc better due to less heat. Any way if you want to pay more for unlocked multipliers thats cool but the 6000+ multipliers is so high you wouldn't need unlocked ones.

No it's not faster period your wrong but good luck. The 6000+ is the fastest current chip made by AMD posted on there own web page thats how they sell it. Your right it does take 125w and a FX62 takes 89w, but it's alot faster. Also soon after it's been redesigned it going to be 89w as is the 6400+ and that is also according to AMD. I can only give you the facts. I researched this myself at one time because I was also looking at a FX62. You have to do whats right for you but if it was me the 6400+ and the 6000+ 89w versions are coming out next month and will be price near or lower than what you payed for that FX62.
