I hate how people think us Dems are not pro war......at all or defence

http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/01/24/pentagon.budget/
When Clinton unveils the federal budget next month, Pentagon sources tell CNN, he will propose spending $291 billion on defense, a hike of more than $18 billion and nearly double last year's increase.

The nearly 7 percent increase in defense spending next year that the Clinton administration will propose is the biggest increase in the Pentagon's budget since the Reagan-era military buildup of the 1980s.

Obama
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20093852/
The Illinois senator warned Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf in a major foreign policy speech that he would use U.S. military force in Pakistan even without Musharraf's permission if necessary to root out terrorists.

Pakistan has nuclear weapons and is politically unstable, raising concerns that the current military leadership could be replaced by religious fanatics who would be less cautious in using the weapons.

Obama warned that terrorists in the mountains of Pakistan are planning another attack on the United States, after already killing 3,000 Americans in their 2001 attacks.

"It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al-Qaida leadership meeting in 2005." he said. "If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf will not act, we will

In a fact sheet distributed to reporters, Obama's campaign said he will work to eliminate all nuclear weapons, but will not commit the United States to giving them up while other states retain them.
LOL like we would dump our nukes......yea that will be the day. Just everyone else drop theirs lol.

Secure loose nuclear materials from terrorists:

http://origin.barackobama.com/issues/foreign_policy/
Obama and Biden will secure all loose nuclear materials in the world within four years, and will negotiate a verifiable global ban on the production of new nuclear weapons material to curb the spread of nuclear weapons.

Which would be like Bush on his loop hole on the stem cell, if we already have it to use, then that's ok. LOL so it would be ok to use the old know telling how much nuclear weapon materiel laying around already....all that does is sound good to all the people that hate weapons. People are not liking war so much right now. I would garennty that under Obama war will be handled more aggressively.

"If you look at the full sweep of the 20th century, Democrats presided over four of the five big weapons build-ups," said Lexington's Thompson, referring to two World Wars, Korea and Vietnam.

The exception is the Cold War build-up under Ronald Reagan during the 1980s. His successor, Bill Clinton, established the modern-day preconception that Democrats cut defense budgets by slashing spending in the 1990s as the United States reacted to the Soviet Union's demis

Defense contractors would probably dislike a surprise victory by Republican candidate John McCain, whose crusade against Boeing Co's (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) sway over the U.S. Air Force helped establish his reputation as a maverick in Washington, D.C.

"There's a peculiar mismatch between people's stereotypes of the parties and the way they actually behave in regard to the defense industry," said Thompson. "Senior Republicans like (Dick) Cheney, (Donald) Rumsfeld and McCain detest the defense industry. Senior Democrats actively court it."

Former Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld never spoke directly to leaders of defense contractors about his ambitious plans to modernize U.S. weaponry. Many top executives at defense contractors are lifelong Democrats, according to Thompson.

"McCain would be much worse for defense contractors," he said. "They might make as much as money, but be miserable doing it. McCain starts with the assumption that the defense industry is corrupt."

Forbes
http://www.forbes.com/reuters/feeds..._RTRIDST_0_USA-ELECTION-DEFENSE-ANALYSIS.html
Growth in military spending is expected to moderate after the war-fueled bonanza under President Bush, but no one in the industry expects spending to go down.

U.S. defense spending climbed over 60 percent during the Bush administration, to $542.5 billion for fiscal 2009, plus $70 billion of supplemental funding for Iraq and Afghanistan.

The supplemental budget would be the first to go, if Obama moved to draw down the U.S. military presence in Iraq. That would hurt companies that supply hardware and logistics to active U.S. forces, but could free up money for long-term contracts building fighters, bombers, warships and missiles -- the bread and butter for Lockheed Martin Corp (nyse: LMT - news - people ), Northrop Grumman Corp (nyse: NOC - news - people ) and other big contractors.

Together we must also confront the new hazards of chemical and biological weapons, and the outlaw states, terrorists and organized criminals seeking to acquire them. Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nation's wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people, but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. The United Nations weapons inspectors have done a truly remarkable job, finding and destroying more of Iraq's arsenal than was destroyed during the entire gulf war. Now, Saddam Hussein wants to stop them from completing their mission. I know I speak for everyone in this chamber, Republicans and Democrats, when I say to Saddam Hussein, "You cannot defy the will of the world," and when I say to him, "You have used weapons of mass destruction before; we are determined to deny you the capacity to use them again.[50]

To weaken Saddam Hussein's grip of power, Clinton signed H.R. 4655 into law on October 31, 1998, which instituted a policy of "regime change" against Iraq, though it explicitly stated it did not speak to the use of American military forces.[51][52] The administration then launched a four-day bombing campaign named Operation Desert Fox, lasting from December 16 to December 19, 1998.
Look who tried to start the war first LOL.

On Obama website alone it says....
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/defense/
Barack Obama will rebuild the military for 21st century tasks:

Obama and Biden will complete the effort to increase our ground forces by 65,000 soldiers and 27,000 Marines. They will also invest in 21st century missions like counterinsurgency by building up our special operations forces, civil affairs, information operations, foreign language training and other units and capabilities that remain in chronic short supply.

Build Defense Capabilities for the 21st Century

* Fully Equip Our Troops for the Missions They Face: Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe we must get vitally needed equipment to our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines before lives are lost. We cannot repeat such failures as the delays in deployment of armored vehicles, body armor and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles that save lives on the frontlines.

* Review Weapons Programs: We must rebalance our capabilities to ensure that our forces have the agility and lethality to succeed in both conventional wars and in stabilization and counter-insurgency operations. Obama and Biden have committed to a review of each major defense program in light of current needs, gaps in the field, and likely future threat scenarios in the post-9/11 world.

* Preserve Global Reach in the Air: We must preserve our unparalleled airpower capabilities to deter and defeat any conventional competitors, swiftly respond to crises across the globe, and support our ground forces. We need greater investment in advanced technology ranging from the revolutionary, like Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and electronic warfare capabilities, to essential systems like the C-17 cargo and KC-X air refueling aircraft, which provide the backbone of our ability to extend global power.

* Maintain Power Projection at Sea: We must recapitalize our naval forces, replacing aging ships and modernizing existing platforms, while adapting them to the 21st century. Obama and Biden will add to the Maritime Pre-Positioning Force Squadrons to support operations ashore and invest in smaller, more capable ships, providing the agility to operate close to shore and the reach to rapidly deploy Marines to global crises.

* National Missile Defense: An Obama-Biden administration will support missile defense, but ensure that it is developed in a way that is pragmatic and cost-effective; and, most importantly, does not divert resources from other national security priorities until we are positive the technology will protect the American public.

* Ensure Freedom of Space: An Obama-Biden administration will restore American leadership on space issues, seeking a worldwide ban on weapons that interfere with military and commercial satellites. He will thoroughly assess possible threats to U.S. space assets and the best options, military and diplomatic, for countering them, establishing contingency plans to ensure that U.S. forces can maintain or duplicate access to information from space assets and accelerating programs to harden U.S. satellites against attack.

* Protect the U.S in Cyberspace: An Obama-Biden administration will work in cooperation with our allies and the private sector to identify and protect against emerging cyber-threats.

Restore the Readiness of the National Guard and Reserves

* Barack Obama and Joe Biden will provide the National Guard with the equipment it needs for foreign and domestic emergencies and time to restore and refit before deploying. They will make the head of the National Guard a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to ensure concerns of our citizen soldiers reach the level they mandate. They will ensure that reservists and Guard members are treated fairly when it comes to employment, health, and education benefits.

Develop Whole of Government Initiatives to Promote Global Stability

* Integrate Military and Civilian Efforts: An Obama-Biden administration will build up the capacity of each non-Pentagon agency to deploy personnel and area experts where they are needed, to help move soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines out of civilian roles.

* Create a Civilian Assistance Corps (CAC): An Obama-Biden administration will set a goal of creating a national CAC of 25,000 personnel. This corps of civilian volunteers with special skill, sets (doctors, lawyers, engineers, city planners, agriculture specialists, police, etc.) would be organized to provide each federal agency with a pool of volunteer experts willing to deploy in times of need at home and abroad.

Well, just make sure you don't help the first one happen. The president can only do so much, the people are the nation, even though we are constantly trumped by those we elect.

South New Jersey. My friend called, apparently its a kkk/neo bond fire, and they are torching a obama doll, and apparently there is around 800 people there.

And the automatic gun fire is most likely illegal ak-47's and teck-9's, i hear the ak's distinctively. You should see the fire, you can see the light from my barn roof, and thats probly a mile or two away. I called the state police, and they said they don't want to get involved, because they lack the "manpower to handle them", so i guess that ends my hopes for the police quelling that.

Wow. They asked a whole 2,847 people.

US population = 301,139,947 (July 2007 est.)

.00009% of the people were surveyed. really? 9 one hundred thousandths of the population?

If the US population was one meter long that would be .09% of a millimeter or 90 micrometers. 90 micrometers is almost as big as Damulta's penis and I don't want anything that small representing my opinion.

Hmmmmm....

Every network has called it. This isn't even close it's a landslide, 333 to 146 atm. Absentees and recounts aren't going to do this one. McCain is already giving his concession.

Yeah, and they called Cali to Obama, despite the fact that McCain is still leading the tally 51% to 47%. I'll wait it out a little longer. If Cali keeps the current trend, McCain has a shot.

That's the same link pepsi already gave. There are many, many reasons Obama was favored to win and is likely to win, and they are not all homeless people.

our kidding me, you mean not all the people who voted for obama were homeless. WTF

That's terrible man. Terrorists in our own country. :slap: Be safe. :toast:

If they are terrorist, or freedom fighters. One man may call it terrorism, while the other will call it a fight from oppression.

I just am staying away from that crap. I am hoping that the state police and the National guard will get in there and do something, and i think the party over there is getting bigger.

Either way i agree, the state police cannot handle what is going on there. especially since the neos are hardcore, and ive fought with them in war games that we all play, airsoft and paintball is nothing until you have played against them.

your kidding right trained police from a major city, who train 24/7, and are usually ex military cannot handle them come on. I smell B.S. I have been in a group of 800 police officers with riot gear and controlled 10,000 anarchist, Nazis and Black Panthers. Trust me they can handle it.

Those close to Al Queda would say the same thing you say about them, that's dangerous. Extreme measures and AK-47s need not be part of the equation.

McCain gave an admirable concession speech, very respectful and thankful and humble and gracious, if he would have shown more of that side during the debates I think he would have done better. That was the first time he looked like a true president to me.

This is not a city. its the back woods of new jersey. And state police armed with Remington shotguns, and pistols will not handle a crowd of 800 neos, armed whit weapons. at the most we have maby 150 state police in a 100 mile are around here. Not enough to control a crow that is going berserk now because McCain has ceded.

These guys are total wack jobs, ive played against them in war games, they show no fear, and are not afraid of dieing, and they know their martial arts.

Total wack jobs they are. and they are dangerous, its funny even our police are afraid of them. the kkk, and noes replaced the warlocks and the motorcycle gans as fear now. 15 years ago Moto gangs were feared, and the states never pulled them over, now its the neos and the kkk.
