The proper OS and the different kernel is WiN7. 8 has the UI of 7 "without the start menu bs. 10/11 are the same just 11 is a make over

Indeed. I remember Microsoft itself has a page explaining the difference between the two regarding memory management, and the differences were HUGE! We thought the slow down with Vista was just low RAM with early OEM computers but that was part of the issue. I tried to search for the page but I think Microsoft removed it or something just like any other older Windows pages. :ohwell:

Win11 is fine, and you can use it on “older/unsupported” hardware just fine if you install off a USB instead of using the picky win10 to 11 updater. I just wish they’d be consistent. One of my computers it had Task Manager in right click of Taskbar on the other I had to edit the registry to get that feature back. Huh!?

Windows Updates should be turned off since most of the time they don't bring anything but broken things.

Microsoft did that all by themselves by screwing up and installing bad update clients repeatedly and incomplete net framework updates to which broke ms server communications with win-7 machines think 8 also saw issues after win-10 released

Most of this didn't start until win-8 appeared and was considered by most as complete shit !
Then of course forced updating also started so yeah quite a coincidence in win-7 updating problems right, and the push for win-8.. but yeah all win-7's fault :laugh:

A 8th gen pentium can run 11, but a 7th gen core i7 cannot, according to MS logic. Unless it is certain mobile 7th gen parts, then you can. MS has never explained WHY certain 7th gen CPUs can run 11 while others cannot, none of them have VBS.

MS' arbitrary BS cut off more then 2/3rds of all computers worldwide and played a direct role in 11's sluggish performance on the market.
