That sounds correct. The reference models came out before the UEFI support on our 290x's. Please create a ticket at xfxsupport.com and based off your serial # and revision, a bios may be available for use. If not, we can request one be made.

Thank you

I made...

Response from XFX:

This card should have UEFI support. however its possible it doesn not. We dont have a bios list for updating this, but you are welcomt ot try the 2nd bios on the card to see if you can get it to work./

Me:

>Did you say the Switch to "Quiet" and "Uber" Mode?>Already did it. Without changes.

XFX:

The 290x should have a UEFI compatible bios in both settings. Does it not post in Windows 8 systems with Secure boot turned on?

Me:

The sistem boot, but in compatibility mode.

like the second link of my first post.

* I sent the screens *

XFX:

We simply dont have an AMD bios for 290x cards. Maybe AMD does? sorry.

Me:

So.... you can´t help me?

XFX:

>Its an AMD reference card, like all AMD reference cards, except it has an XFX sticker.>
>We dont help modify bios files, provide original bios files, or even keep a complete directory. We offer and provide them when needed or if available, but i cant get my hands on a card like this to pull the bios for you.. you might have better luck asking for it on a forum board.>Sorry.

Me: well ok :(

I see. Please PM your ticket number or email address to me. I will have this ticket reviewed and request for a UEFI bios for this revision.

Thank you

The ATIWinflash didn't open in my system.

The top os screen blink and flash lines but didn't open.
I need to kill the process at task manager.

Maybe in DOS mode, but what is the command line?

Finally another rep

I have tried to run as administrator, does not open.
I will try in DOS mode : /

Ok, Updated
From 015.039.000.006.003515 (113-C6710150-101_MBA)
To 015.041.000.001.003745 (113-C6710101-100)

And I still can not use my BIOS in UEFI mode, keeps saying that the card is not compatible.

emailing you for faster correspondance. we need to find out about your system a bit more

Caldas--glad to see you made it here from the Asus Sabertooth forum. Also glad you've found the XFX rep--hopefully they can help you get your card to work correctly. Will follow the outcome here or wait for a response on the Sabertooth forum. Good luck. ( smith) on the Asus forum. The folks here on TPU are good people and will try to help you.

Thanks Mister Smith :)

Glad to help--amazed at how good your command of English is!

the only thing having a UEFI bios grants you is a SLIGHTLY faster boot and secure boot capability
if xfx can't come up with a UEFI bios its possible to mod the bios and insert a GOP partition
you will need a donor bios from a COMPATIBLE AND I STRESS THE PHRASE COMPATIBLE UEFI CARD IE from another vendor

I also read this OneMoar.
This is the only advantage?

having a GOP bios shortens the boot time by a couple of seconds it will not effect anything important it has no effect on performance
Id leave it alone its fine we have known for awhile that this card doesn't support UEFI Out of the box http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/uefi-bios-for-reference-r9-290x.200009/

Make sure it's right before you do as i noticed that the one posted for the XFX 290X clocked @1050 is incorrect. I remember some one not to long ago tried a XFX 1050 bios and failed and had to upload mine which was different than the one of there and still would not work.

its possible to hex edit the gop section out of the bios from another card and then hex edit it into a backup of bios for that card
edit: nm didn't see that its a reference card so he needs to source a reference bios that has UEFI GOP assuming its really a reference card any reference bios should work

I heard those DD cards are reference boards with a awesome looking cooler

Unfortunately I do not have another motherboard or someone who can test my GPU

I realy don´t know if this is a problem from my motherboard or my video card :(

I currently use the SABERTOOTH X79 BIOS 4701

There is a newer SABERTOOTH X79 BIOS 4801 but the change log is only: Enables 128GB(8*16GB) support by IM ( Intelligent Memory ) memory modules.
I do not believe that would make a difference.

I updated my BIOS to latest version ( 4801) without change in UEFI mode.

Had read that the CPU i7 3820 was not 100% compatible with PCI-Express 3.0 so, switch to 2.0 and continues all the same :(

subscribed I also have a vanilla xfx 290x and was wondering the same.
