xfx rx480 8gb flashed to saphire rx580

That's why I ask before doing something stupid ;-) I flashed some cards before, had one or two bricks and recovered both, so this isn't new stuff for me. But right now I need to put together my "old" intel sys with onboard gpu to recover if anything goes down the sink. And that's something I don't want to do. So I'll wait and see if someone can answer the question...

Tried for 1450 MHz looked like a go.

Unfortunately this Polaris GPU's limit is 1411 MHz, @ 1450 MHz instant crash in UNIGINE Superposition. It was worth trying for, ah well.

AIDA64 GPGPU Compute @1411 (before the card/GPU was blocked from voltage bumps over 1.175 mV or 1350 MHz)

Good news everyone with a XFX RS RX480.

Turns out one of the DisplayPort Connectors is nonfunctional, but if you move up to the second connector you should get a image on the monitor.

So: DVI - HDMI - DisplayPort - DisplayPort - Mini DisplayPort
| Plug into this instead

Does anyone know where I can download the MSI Gaming X 4GB RX 580 Bios? It's not listed in the bios collection on here yet.

TPU Database is the Best Repository of graphics card Bios on the Net :)

IT RELIES UPON PEOPLE TO UPLOAD THEIR BIOS TO THE DATABASE
If its not in the main list or in unverified list then its not probably available yet
Asking for it is a good start ( you may get a response or guilt trip someone to upload via GPUz )
so your either going to search further or wait for a response

Have you made enquirers on the MSI forums or searched there :)

I haven't emailed MSI, but I have checked the TPU database. Hoping someone can upload it from a card they own.

I haven't emailed MSI,
The Bios you want
is it for flashing another brand of card from 4GB RX 480 to 4GB RX 580 ? like this thread is on the subject of flashing 8gig cards
if so contacting MSI will probably a waste of time
you may find in their forums/threads the bios ( possibly available) but you probably will not get it from MSI Support

Which is why I didn't bother. They would just tell me to download the bios update utility.

Anyone who managed to flash their cards having any issue while watching movie(black screen)? Do you able to use more monitors at the same time?

Because one of the tech site is warning about these issues.

i have not had any issues while watching movies. i was also able to use two monitors just to see if it would work.

Just in case, once more!! Has anyone got blackscreen or crash while watching a movie(dxva) after the flash?

you need to force it.

atiwinflash -f -p 0 path/to/bios.rom

or if it's not the first card, adjust 0 accordingly. Will need elevated permissions.
Thanks! It worked, but it did disable the DisplayPort.

You, sir are a genius, but having a bit of issues....will try and work them out.

I hate being "that guy" that made an account just to contribute here.. But I did.
I got my card successfully flashed. It's a XFX rx480 GTR Black Edition (RX-480P8DBA6) 66.8% ASIC.
I update drivers to 17.4.3, but When I boot up, the drivers aren't loading, and afterburner is just showing "rx-580". No fan control or power control either.
Display driver version 22.19.157.3.

I flashed my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8Gb 100406+8gl to a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8Gb 100411NT+8GL

i wasn't worried due to the fact of the 480 having an 8 pin power connector.

The card the bios was extracted from has a 8+6 pin power connector so probably not much headroom for overclock on a flashed card.

those flashing cards with 6 pin connectors will probably have problems.

been up and running 6 hours of testing with no issues

So lets see if I can pick your brains here. My 1400Mhz clocks were unstable, heres what I have now.

RX 480 BIOS = 1360 core, 2100 mem, 1150mv ---- Superposition score 3290
RX 580 BIOS = 1360 core, 2100 mem, 1150mv ---- Superposition score 3650

How the heck am I getting higher scores with the same parameters?!?

Well...flash didn't work for my RX 480 Red Devil. Got a SubsystemIDs mismatch error.
I found right clicking open as admin on ATIFlash then closing the command prompt window then double clicking the flash bat file works.

Your past flash with the RX 580 BIOS that sets the GPU to 1411 MHz might of required you to increase the voltage from 1.150mV to 1.175-1.200mV for the 1411 MHz boost performance state. Otherwise I couldn't tell you why your getting a higher score at the same clockspeeds. Possibly the GDDR5 is running with tighter timings than the RX480 BIOS?

Haha...no clue, but sounds great!

I finally got everything to work, but working on the voltage increase to prevent FO4 from crashing 10 minutes into it.

Are you guys doing any fancy work with the drivers or msiab? I flashed my card, and it boots up fine, but amd software doesn't launch, and msiab only shows there's a 580 connected, no controls.

Afterburner works after I installed the 17.4.3 driver. All controls work as normal.
