That update should come automatically via Radeon Software, should it not?

A successful VBIOS flash with no issues , you don't see many of these.

But really I don't see the point of this. I didn't go through the whole thread but why did you do it ? Did this got you higher boost clocks vs just OC'ing with the stock BIOS ?

That update should come automatically via Radeon Software, should it not?

Didn't AMD make drivers for cards that were flashed with different BIOS difficult to update or something ?

The Driver update fixed me issue, but as soon as I put any load on the GPU my pc crashes and monitor turns off.

There should be no issue. The card should be recognized as a 580 when the software scans the hardware. The software just looks at the lower level BIOS string for card model info

Yes AMD has been really anti modding with their bios's as of late. There is a mod around it.

Stock I wasn't able to achieve this speed at all. Most was around 1350 and that was pushing it to the limit.

I honestly just did the mod to see if it would work.

This makes sense, power draw of the RX580 is much higher. They just slapped an OC on the RX480 at the factory and dropped more volts on it, that is all this really is. Improved process my ass. This is AMD's Kaby Lake.

However still a nice effort @OP. Thanks for posting this!

Do we know if this is an actual new Polaris chip? Or the exact same chip?

Also, does this flash automatically put voltage to 1.2?

I flashed back, it kept crashing my PC when trying to play a game, it didn't when just using the PC or bench marking, but for some reason it wouldn't work in a game.

im finding it to be the same for me. im having to leave the memory and core clocks alone. ive added a +24 increase to the core voltage in msi afterburner. if you can could you update gpuz to 1.20.0 and see if the subvender is showing up.

One thing you have to keep in mind are the different VRMs used from one manufactuer to another and even some use different i2c as well. Cross flashing actually hardly works without a hitch. THat was the issue I ran into the night of the R9 290x to 390X when the first bios became availble. However those took a while to figure out. So while crossflashing may allow you to boot and even get into windows might easily crash when it goes into 3d states.

With all that said...crossflashing within the same manufactuer from 480 to 580 generally worked and fared better.

Answer to amd crack down...there is no issue flashing other bios as long as it has not been modified. If you use an official bios it will work, if you use polaris bios edito, you flash and just run atipixelpatcher-bios. I gave someone a tip today and will let him tell you his exp when he wants to.

What drivers are you using for it? Also what operating system are you using?

Windows 10 and the latest ones for the 580 on AMD's site.

I have the same XFX, 1288mhz 8GB... maybe it's my system though as my card has always made an odd buzzing noise under load. I sent it back twice, and all 3 of the cards did the same thing so I decided to stick with it and accept it's my system, even though it's fine with other cards I have. I first thought it was the fans, but it's some power thing under load that causes the noise.

I booted up Overwatch, it just crashes in the menu screen once I see the temp values hit 85c, every time it gets to 85c and then just crashes my PC.

Doesn't seem worth it though as my card runs at 85c with the 480 bios under load and is throttling.
