Razer Relaunches the Left-Handed Naga Gaming Mouse

Razer today has "relaunched" the Razer Naga, a southpaw gaming mouse the company had previously released and then discontinued back in 2014 due to a "lack of demand", as the company put it at the time. The updated Razer Naga has been especially geared for MMO gaming, featuring 12 programmable buttons on the rodent's right side for easy thumb access, as well as two additional buttons below the wheel (in addition to the usual left and right click buttons, with the wheel offering another three input options besides scroll). this means the mouse features a total of 19 programmable buttons.

The new Naga features Razers' in-house Razer Focus+ Optical, which means a maximum of 20,000 CPI, maximum speed of 650 IPS and a maximum 60G of acceleration. Razers' in-house mechanical switches make an appearance, as well as support for 5 different profiles. The mouse comes in at 3.84 ounces (109 grams) and offers support to the usual Razer software such as Razer Synapse and Razer Chroma RGB products. The mouse is also supported by the Xbox One. The Razer Naga Left-Handed Edition carries an MSRP of $99.99,

Intel and Wargaming Join Forces to Deliver Ray Tracing to World of Tanks

Intel has been very serious about its efforts in computer graphics lately, mainly because of its plans to launch a dedicated GPU lineup and bring new features to the graphics card market. Today, Intel and Wargaming, a maker of MMO titles like World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes, partnered to bring ray tracing feature to the Wargaming's "Core" graphics engine, used in perhaps one of the best-known MMO title - World of Tanks.

Joint forces of Intel and Wargaming developers have lead to the implementation of ray tracing, using only regular software techniques without a need for special hardware. Being hardware agnostic, this implementation works on any graphics card that can run DirectX 11, as the "Core" engine is written in DirectX 11 API. To achieve this, developers had to make a solution that uses CPU's resources for fast, multi-threaded bounding volume hierarchy which then feeds the GPU's compute shaders for ray tracing processing, thus making the ray tracing feature entirely GPU shader/core dependent. Many features are reworked with emphasis put on shadow quality. In the images below you can see exactly what difference the new ray-tracing implementation makes, and you can use almost any graphics card to get it. Wargaming notes that "some FPS" will be sacrificed if ray tracing is turned on, so your GPU shouldn't struggle too much.

Leaked AI-powered Game Revenue Model Paper Foretells a Dystopian Nightmare

An artificial intelligence (AI) will deliberately tamper with your online gameplay as you scramble for more in-game items to win. The same AI will manipulate your state of mind at every step of your game to guide you towards more micro-transactions. Nothing in-game is truly fixed-rate. The game maps out your home, and cross-references it with your online footprint, to have a socio-economic picture of you, so the best possible revenue model, and anti buyer's remorse strategy can be implemented on you. These, and more, are part of the dystopian nightmare that takes flight if a new AI-powered online game revenue model is implemented in MMO games of the near future.

The paper's slide-deck and signed papers (with corrections) were leaked to the web by an unknown source, with bits of information (names, brands) redacted. It has too much information to be dismissed off hand for being a prank. It proposes leveraging AI to gather and build a socio-economic profile of a player to implement the best revenue-generation strategy. It also proposes using an AI to consistently "alter" the player's gameplay, such that the player's actions don't have the desired result leading toward beating the game, but towards an "unfair" consequence that motivates more in-game spending. The presentation spans a little over 50 slides, and is rich in text that requires little further explanation.
The rest of the presentation follows.

Tt eSports Announces the Nemesis Switch Gaming Mouse

Tt eSports, Thermaltake's gaming peripherals division, has announced their new take on what an RGB, MOBA or MMO-oriented mouse should deliver. Eight of those are available straight away on the left-hand side of the mouse, with four additional keys being hidden inside the mouse.

"But what good are they for if they're hidden and thus inaccessible?", you ask? That's a good question. That's where the patented system comes in: you simply push the panel where the eight side keys are held, and like magic, four other keys come from inside the mouse. Due to this lever system, you'll certainly lose time with the mechanism rolling inside the mouse and exposing either set of keys, so maybe you should take care which actions you configure these extra four keys with. The twelve macro-supporting programmable buttons are configured by Thermaltake's Tt eSports Plus+ mobile and PC application.
